Just thought I'd add to the mix and I hope this doesn't turn into a 10 page ordeal. The conclusion that I've come to is that they only work on smaller hp cars. I've got a 3.2 non-turbo Honda (about 225 hp) and haven't had any issues with my u-joint axles. Yes, I drive it hard and fast<----------------I'm talking about the car.

Low horsepower may indeed help with longevity, however, "High Angle U-Joints" just may be an oxymoron..
The higher the angle, the higher the stress on parts..

It is not just the high HP guys that had problems.
I had probs and run a 3.2. There are a couple others with non v8's that had "issues".
Good luck. If you really want a set, PM me, I'll sell ya mine.

Well, what the hell.....I have no real complaints. I did have a cracked side plate when I lost a main shaft bearing, but had no problems. That was after 2-1/2 years, with a blown small block Ford.

I didn't reply to the last post because it got so heated but anyhow I have a pair and my buddy has a pair and we both like ours don't want to jinx it but so far things are fine I have had mine for over a year and buddy a year and a half. He has had a hub go out but we don't know for sure why otherwise I would have gone through about 3 or 4 cv's in this time and have not had any probs. knock on wood.

My old car, Desert Dynamics, 091 trans and an aspirated Honda 3.2l...I ran high angles for two seasons with no problems at all. I loved them...
New car SCU, Mendi E and an aspirated 3.5 Honda...I'm going with cv's. I don't know that HA's are bad, but after all the reading about it, I'm not taking any chances.

You can't just put a new CV on and march on....check your max axle angle and make sure you aren't going past 23 degrees. If you keep it under that angle and keep some sort of grease in it and the sand out, it will last a lifetime....it is really that simple. Stay away from the U-joint axles....they are the reason they invented the CV in the first place...They didn't work in this application!

Every single person I know with 930 CV's on an LS1 car has broken them. I would say that would consitute "issues" with CV's. Plus u-joints have almost no maintenance.

long as your side cases are not cast, and you have well braced and gusseted trailing arm mounts you'll be fine. The people ripping off tabs are always the inner mount and they are usually 1/8" plating, fine for cv's, not for slip shafts. I make all my suspension and shocks tabs out of 1/4" plate, and the tab also acts as a gusset connecting to a fair amount of tubing surface area....
