ATV Certification Courses

Classes available for children and adults.

Ages 6 to 11 (on 50cc machines)
Ages 12 to 15 (on 70-90cc machines)
16+ (on 90+ machines)

Classes are free for children under age 18 through a State of California subsidy.
Classes are $125 per student for participants 18 years and older.

*Many ATV manufacturers will pay for certification classes if participants are riding a newly purchased, appropriately sized unit. To see a list of participating manufacturers, visit www.atvsafety.org

Class participants must bring the following gear:
Helmet
Goggles or windshield
Over-the-ankle boots
Full-finger gloves
Long-sleeve shirt
Pants

At the end of the course, participants will receive an ASI Completion Card. Once the necessary paperwork is filed, participants will also be certified with the State of California.

*Have your ATV VIN available for reference.
*Mention the Sand Addiction class in Glamis to enroll for the course being held on Saturday, March 22, 2008. Two sessions will be held: 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.**Wrist bands must be worn at all times to be in the event area. Additional wristbands are available

This is cool, this is a must for the kids. I took the class in the upper desert and it was well worth my time...

Yeah, no problem! Be sure to pre-register because there are limited spots for the courses!

Oh yeah, I know what you mean! It would be nice to start the young ones off early...teach them while they're young and hopefully before they learn any bad habits tongue.gif

Bummer the 12 yr olds have to ride 70-90cc machines, we don't have one.

My son's been riding his 400 for 3 yrs.

We are all certified. Even got money back from Suzuki and Yamaha. I still don't understand why people pass on this free service. 25bangin.gif

^^ He could borrow Jordan's 90 for the class. Since Jordan is 9 he will need to ride a 50? Damn. He is already almost too big for his 90.

I thought younger kids could participate as observers and get their certificate too?

We did it too and got our money back also mes.gif
My 16 year old is certified also...but not the 7 year old (we don't have a 50cc quad for her to use, she rides a 90)

Our son is 6 and we want to get him certified too. He currently rides a 90, so we're going to have to borrow our niece's quad, so that he can take the class. Kind of a hassle, but well worth the trouble to ensure his knowledge and safety!

I'm not sure about that, because they actually have us rope off an area to do the training in...you might call the institute and ask them about it. Perhaps they do a different type of class for the younger kids.
