OK here is the prob I put in a vortex CDI and the bike wouldn't go above a third of a throttle without popping (plug looks great) called duncan they told me to do a bunch of stuff didn't work put in the stockcdi same prob now. Here is what I have and settings.

Cam
10.5to 1 piston
port polish
Big gun exhaust complete
K&N with proflow adaptor no lid
180-185 Jets
27.5 pilots
dynojet needle 4th clip of 6
VP110 with 92 mix
put in a new battery

sounds like a jetting problem to me...

Ran fine at 180-185 with minumal blubering prior to cdi correct jetting with good light cinumin was 175-180.



One mechanic was wondering if it could be the stator????

my buddy had a problem that sounds similar even though he doesnt have quite the mods you do and it came down to the air lid. w/ the air lid on it would be fine til he hit hills then it would bogg like no other then with the air lid off it would pop and we ended up modifying the air lid to aloow more air but not as much air as if he ran without the lid. maybe try that. never hurts.

try trimming the port looking things that run on the inside of the air lid. he cut those down to allow more free air flow and it seemed to work.

Maybe sounds Dumb, but is the Emergency Brake on

(After Jetting My Raptor, I had this exact problem and was like WTF, checked everything and Called for support, then noticed the Brake was on LOL Problem solved) beer.gif

The new CDI does not use the parking brake cutoff.

My friend has a raptor that he has rewired all the controls and they had the same grimlin show up . It was something to do whith the rev limiter for reverse it activated when they removed the parking brake and it's rev limiter .

hey, doc, besides getting great info here, try out www.bluetraxx.com there's a lot people that know their stuff as well over there.... the more opinions/ideas on what's wrong with your bike the better

Sounds like a dirty carb or maybe it's just not getting enough fuel to the bowl. Ck your fuel flow...

Doc I just went through the same thing today sorta, I put a full fmf pipe silencer, pro design with kn and when i would ride it it would sputter real bad about 1/2-2/3 throttle. I did re jet for the mods. I tried putting the lid back on with the snorkel part that goes over the carbs removed and it ran like a grape ape. It just didnt like all the air with the air box lid removed.

Yep,, same here.

Then on another occasion it was bad gas left in the tank from the last year with no stablizer.

Carb was gumbey'd up.

Put the factory box back in and see if it has the same symptoms. If it does, then I am guessing the same as the rest on the electrical reverse/rev limiter. If it runs fine on the factory box, then there is an issue with the new CDI.

Put the factory box in and still didn't work. It is not the parking brake disconected worse then I looped it so it couldn't be the prob.

Where is the reverse rev control located? Played with reverse and didn't fix it but I can't find the reverse rev wires in the service manual.
