CHEVOTA
Here's the symptoms of my little hot rod Honda 110 ('82). Fires up no prob, runs around 5-15 min, and dies. A neighbor said that he was sure that it was a magneto issue. I dunno, does anyone have any ideas?
Kevin
make sure the tank vent is on, and it may have a fuel delivery problem. make sure your petco ck filter is clean. kennyg's 70 runs ok for a bit when the fuel is placed in the "on" position, but it dies after a short distance of riding, it idles all day long but under load dies, switch it to reserve and it runs fine, we figure the tube for the fuel on is gummed up, same with the carb, idle is touchy.
CHEVOTA
Makes cents, I'll give it a shot. So do ya think that the magneto has nothing to do with the prob??
Kevin
i doubt it, but to check, when it dies pull the plug wire and check for spark, no spark then something in igniton system.

could be as simple as the vent hose for the gas cap being bent, cost me a hairscramble race, came into the pits on lap7 of 8 for a splash of gas(everyone running more than a stock 250 r had to) came in and went out first in class(2stroke icon_cool.gif went maybe a mile and the bike died, messed for a minute, lost 3 places, took cap off, went another mile or so and died, then I saw the twist in the vent hose, damn, by now I was to 8th with about 3/4's of a lap to go, needless to say I could get back many spots, finsihed 7th

sorry, hijack no good, but yeah I would suspect fuel, but check for spark next time anyway.
Kevin
the old three wheelers had a switch on the gas cap for the vent.

Try popping the fuel line going to the carb and see what kind of fuel flow you have. If it trickles out then that's your problem if it flows the it might be the carb is all plugged up and needs a rebuild. If you think it maybe the stator the run the bike until it starts to act up and then ck the spark. I had a Bultaco that did the same thing. It ran fine for a few minutes then it would just die. It turn out that something in the stator would separate after it warmed up and when it did it died. But your situation sounds more of a fuel starvation problem to me.
CHEVOTA
Yeah, the more I think about the symptoms the more it does sound like fuel starvation or highly likely ventilation. Thanks for the tips guys. If I don't fix it by next weekend than we'll sit around, scratch ourselves, and have a beer.gif while I screw around with it in camp.
