Had a great weekend (just got home). Although on one ride we did have a buggy with issues. This is GlamisCoyote's friend Brian (I don't think Brian posts on the board). He came down a small dune at moderate speed and the spindle just ripped right off. He never even hit anything hard. Definitely a weird breakage. Pics...

I think I saw that guy pulling that thing back into the pound. He is lucky he could drive it out of the dunes on 3 wheels. I think the last guy that broke down out there got his car stripped and left in the bowl.

when left with the choice of leave car to get striped or drive out and brake it more I would drive it out rather then do a frame up build when I got home.

Man that sucks. I saw someone else driving on 3 wheels by the drags as well. I'd sleep in the car until I'd get some help lol.

My Potter built car did the same breakage on the spindle in 2000,just a poor design.Doesn't look like it was welded on both inner and outter sides of spindle.

It took some adjustment on the shocks and it scooped alot of sand along the way, but at least it made it back to the pound.
That was the 2nd car I saw on Saturday that came back on 3 wheels back to the pound.

believe it or not i had the exact same break , only the drivers side , the spindle broke the same way while just driving . lv2rail (john)took the knucle and spindle back to camp and duner2 (mark)and a few of his friends welded it enough to get me out of the dunes .by the way thanks to john , mark and all the pit crew that helped me get back to camp , you guys were great!. tim
