Hubby and I were out jeeping on Easter Sunday near Desert Center and came across some beautiful flowers. Even though they weren't taken in the dunes, I thought I'd share.
I'm still looking into their names. You can tell I'm an amateur because I didn't take any pictures to show the actual size of some of these flowers.
This little flower was so tiny! I would say these were no bigger than a dime in diameter. Their name is Monoptilon bellioides or "Desert Star"

These yellow flowers were all over the place too...

And the little purple ones were quite abundant. Their name is Phacelia crenulata or "Notched-leaf phacelia"

I think I found the name for these....Chaenacti fremontii "Fremont's Pincushion" These little guys are tiny too! Maybe the size of a nickel?

These were the smallest. I think I had my camera only about 5-6" away from the bloom! Palafoxia arida or "Spanish needles"

Of course, what's a desert without verbenas?

And these white flowers love the sand! They were EVERYWHERE! Maybe some sort of a primrose? I don't know yet.
