Multi question:
What pressure do you run in your Quads Paddle tires, and any opinions on bead lock wheels?
I want to put bead lock wheels on my sons YFZ 450 if it adds even a small degree of safety.
Pros or cons of bead lock wheels?
Thanks for your imput

Beadlocks on paddles for a Quad ?

can't imajine the need for them

adding a saftey facter ? The only thing beadlocks are going to do is slow your son down and make his bike wiegh a ton. Get the blue lable rims for the sand I don't think they even put beadlocks on thoose rims .

Saw several guys at Dumont last weekend having trouble keeping their paddle tires on their rims.
Hate for that to happen to a child at 75 MPH.

first run the thicker aluminum wheels Black label comes to mind. You son will most likely ride hard and jump, the light weight aluminum rims will bend on hard landings.
As far as air pressure is concerned you inflate a sand tire enough to where your not pealing the tire off the rim for your riding style. This may be 2 pounds of pressure for some and as much as 15 pounds for others.
Beadlock rims are not necessarty unless you want to run low pressure (added floatation) and still keep the tire on the rim with an ultra agressive riding style.

I run 4 1/2 lbs in all my quad tires, and they only go in sand. Never lost a bead yet, even when my daughter taco'ed her rim. Buy slime and put it in now to avoid flats in the future. Check tire pressure every day while riding, oil chain everyday while riding, fill gas before every ride.

i run my skat traks at 5psi, and my razors at 4psi. never even come close to popping a bead and my bike weighs almost 700lbs with me on it.

Haven't noticed it. I've been running it for three years, and my buddy has been running it for much longer. I use the Green oatmeal like stuff. Oh well, if you see me running on hubs one day you'll know you were right!

I didn't think I would every think about bead locks or reinforced for that matter, until I was running down wach road and hit a big rock that I couldn't see from all the dust. By the time I got back to camp I had a flat and a really tweeked wheel. The tire didn't come off though. Now I'm thinking different and looking into getting them soon.

I always run 4lbs in the rear with the Haulers and 5lbs up front with the smoothes and have never had any problems...
Interesting about the Slime corroding the rims. I have not taken the tire off to see if there is any corrosion there...

i have seen my friends douglas black label with green slim. It was damaged but not to bad. It will take many years before the rim will fail.
