Ok here is the problem. I got a billet gas cap and on the last trip to G it leaked all over the place and makes a mess all over the motor. These caps don't come with any gaskets so my question is what would be a permanent fix...
Kevin
there should be an oring on there i would think, or try putting in a gasket, or get a stock cap;)

Im trying to make a spacer with a peace of rubber for a gaskit to see if that works... Dame VP eat some clear coat off my motor and I had to touch it up... angryfire.gif

see if you cant take any seals off the stock cap and use that as a fix.
DUNE
I tryed that. The space between the to of the cap and the top of the tank is to great and lets the gas leak through the threads of the cap...

Just don't fill it up so far Come on how much gas do you need to take it on and off the trailer anyways icon_biggrin.gif

where did you get your cap from? I just got a billet cap from alba, I havent taken the quad out yet, and already threw the stock one away, I am pretty sure it had an o ring, I hope so anyway

Try the rubber seal out of a cap for the IMS tanks (desert tanks)
Most rubbers will deteriorate fairly quick when exposed to gasoline

BTW ... you can order those seals as a replacement part for the cap.

Tom, I had the same problem. I made a cork gasket and that lasted several months. I then used a thin sheet of rubber gasket materiel to make one and that has lasted for the last six months. O rings are the way to go but finding one that fits right is sometimes a pain. I got the gasket material sheets at pep boys.

Ive gone thru 3 diff billet caps and they all leaked. Tryed the o ring thing the stock gasket, makin a gasket you name it . went back to the black plastic cap ...no leaking \. Tom if you figure it out let me know. Shawn

My gas cap was made by RIS and didn't come with a O-ring so when I ride it spills.

Shawn if I get it straiten out then I will give you the heads up...

Sandho will the rubber IMS seals work on stock tanks???

Thanks guys for the input.
Sandho
I'm not sure I never tried it.

It looks like I'll be able to make it to Glamis this weekend so I'll swing by Friday morning and we'll see it fits.
I'll snag you some O-rings from work tonight too.
One way or another we'll get you sealed up.

I don't have my stock tank anymore so If you get some time today, throw me some round about numbers on how big the O-rings need to be.
DUNE
Will do, Thanks Ho.
Sandho
I just grabbed 2 of all the sizes we have that are close so I'm sure I have one that will work for ya.
Never mind on the measurements beer.gif

Just to let ya know, Harbor Freight sells a gasket kit with alot of differant sizes. May be worth a stop. icon_biggrin.gif
