Wayne:

Since not much is going on regarding legislation dealing with OHV issues (sans the ATV age bill), what issues does CLORV intend to have the attendees address with the legislators?

Ya know, This is my second year doing this. I hate to
sound ignorant, but I dont know what the heck they have on the
plate, not much info on the http://clorv.org/ website.

I was on CLORV call last night, only thing they talked about was
Maldinado(sp?) bill. We are either going to oppose it or oppose
unless amended.

Personally, I think there are a few things going on that should be brought
up with legislators, Johnson Valley, Renewable energy
Ocitillo wells, forest plans, Glamis border issues, Pismo.

Some of that will need to be addressed at the congressional level,
but state lawmakers should still be aware how we stand on those issues.

I'm thinking that the Maldonado [sp?] bill is a real up-hill fight.

I'd think that all OHV groups would want to take a long, long, hard look at the upsides and downsides of a position on this thing. We could really get a black eye from the press on this one if we take any oppose position.

Also, given that Maldonado carried our water on the 2005 version of the OHV re-authorization legislation (another piss poor effort that we got snookered - but that is another issue for another time); do the OHV groups believe that opposition to his bill is in the best interest of our community.

Most of the other issues frankly are on the Federal level and I'm not too sure the California Legislature is all too interested in hearing about them.
