Best Hot Wings-----Native New Yorker no ......Long Wongs not any more -----------Try Teakwoods the Original location on Ray and Day. these are the people who used to own Long Wongs in Tempe the same place that Native ripped off but hasn't quite got right. Would not recomend anything hotter than hot your bunghollio will thank you.

And if you put any place in California as a better place you just don't know wings.

As much as I hate agreeing with you I cant this time. I am still a new yorker fan - but will try the teakwoods place next time I head into town. Problem is, Im always on the NW side.

CA doesnt have crap for hot wings. I've called and asked all the effs and they would swear they were the hottest wings and it was never anything more then BBQ sauce and tobasco.. UGH..

While in Alaska I asked the cook about the wings. he said if they werent hot enough I got them for free - I ended up paying double.. it was a hole place in the middle of no where - but Id give plenty to get those down here..

Thanks - peace.gif

Sweet Tea... I understand that is not tea with sugar in it, so WTF is it really????

It's a southern thing, I had it in Texas, and I was hooked. I think it's corn surup or something like that.

I have vacationed in the south 5 times now and LOOOOOOOOVE the sweet tea! I try and make it at home and it just ain't the same!!!

Boiled peanuts are also off the hook too.....YUMMMMMMMY!!

Carnitas Express off of Newport Rd. in Menifee. Great little mexican restaurant, they have a wide variety of things, so far all them are good too. They have HUGE burritos that are delicious! We have been going there for 3 or more years. I give them an A++. There is another Carnitas Express in Murrieta also, but not sure where at.

King Taco! All over ELA and thereabouts. There's even one at the Speedway. Good stuff! Can't go to the big one off of the 60/710 in the middle of the night on weekends without waiting in line!

P.S. Hey, Crusty--they started off as a taco (actually a converted ice cream) truck!

Eat at Joes, Redondo Beach.. "Mad Dog Omelet".

George's Hamburgers in Fullerton, CA

Best Pastrami's 3.75 compared to the hat 7 and 9 dollars. what a rip off.

If you like taquitos they have good spicy guacamole taquitos.

If order fries be prepared for a lot of fries. You get a big bag to begin with, then they Add another scoop to the bag.

Chili burgers are better than any I have ever had.

If you are ever in Fullerton you need to stop in and try them. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

George's is the BOMB DIGGITY

Rainforest cafe in Santa Ana- kinda neat to walk thru, but the food and service sucks, and is mucho expensive.
They if you go as a big group they charge you 17 percent gratuity even if the suck at there job...
Next time, I'll just go to the ZOO.

Clubhouse in Santa Ana- The Lobster Bisque soup rocks with the sourdough bread... Yum Yum...

Taco Joe's in Norwalk, the best joint around even better then Georges, Chilli Cheese fries are awesome, Ground beef tacos, hot sauce, yum. To bad they redevoleped that area and closed it down icon_sad.gif. - on a side note also why sand buggy supply had to move icon_sad.gif Change isn't always good....

Paradise Burger in Bellflower - Good food Decent prices - fast food

Volcano Burger in Los Alamitos - Good Fries if asked crispy - Good Zuchinni - Good Greek Gyro Dinner

Paul's Place in Buena Park - Awesome Chicken Asada Burrito

White Castles in Many places but not in cali icon_sad.gif, 20 sack is the shizzil

The Members have spoken:

LA/South Bay - I 4th or 5th the motions

As JD said - Eat at Joe's/Redondo Beach for Breakfast or Lunch is good grinds - you gotta try it.
To add to that and probably appropritate for JD is: Fat Face Fenner's Faloon - one of the best cheese burgers and cold beer you'll ever have.

Giulano's sandwiches are good, not great but good: Torrance/Gardena/Redondo Beach

Burnt Tortilla in Gardena on Artesia just before the 91 begins is great.

I saw a here here for LOMELI'S, I second that in a heart beat, Mr. Lomeli tears it up - very good pasta, pizza and antipasta - been going there for over 20 years and............never had a bad meal.

A little higher on the 405, if you have never been there: Tito's Tacos in Culver City -- LA Landmark, tacos, chips and guac, red meat burrito rock - FYI cash only, been going there for over 35 years and.......never had a bad meal. Taco shop style dining.

If your adventurous - make a run to the hood (Beverly and Rampart) --- recommend a "day run".....Tommy's Burgers!!
I don't have to tell you, you should know how good it is.

All the above are reasonable in price and I have never seen less than an "A" grade thumb.gif

========
Outta LA

way down South to SD

I gotta try that Gus' place now for that Pastrami. My notable mentions:

Sombrero's Taco Shop - Mission Gorge, cheap, clean and good. Kick a$$ tacos, Carne Asada burritos, etc. -- it's all good.

Bully's East - Mission Valley, pricey (not Ruth Kris pricey), great steaks, prime rib, fish, great calmari and nice beer.gif ifly.gif Beerp.gif --- drinks. They have a Del Mar and La Jolla location, I prefer the Mission Valley location, different ownership. The owners of Old Town Mexican Cafe also own Bully's East - they know how to treat the customer.

Old Town Mexican Cafe - awesome moderately priced, love the homemade tortillas right on the spot.

Hodad's (Ocean Beach) - they'll make you bacon cheeseburger that will shave 2 years off your life, but man is it good. "Old Guys" double your chlorestrol pills!!!!!

Filippi's Pizza Grotto - everything is really good - I am partial to the Pacific Beach location: antipasta, any pasta dish, pizza --- the italian subs with a side of italian dressing are unreal - these sandwiches make Giulano's sandwiches taste like you're eating Lunchables!

The Broken Yolk - a mirror of Eat at Joe's/Redondo Beach but a bit more polished - nice peeps, great breakfast joint, located in Pacific Beach, reasonably priced.

Hooter's (Mission Beach) - you know what they serve. I like this location, it is on the second floor and you have an awesome view of the ocean with a cool breeze flowing thru the joint and of course.... California Girls serving Tall Cool Ones!!!

==================================================================

That's my two centavos for now. bandit.gif

I'll add some more areas later.

Enjoy................................... 1cheff.gif

Also, we use to stop by "Juicy's" for breakfast in Havasu.

Lucille's BBQ - Rancho Cucamonga

Very good Southern BBQ, though a little on the spendy side. All meat is smoked in a smoker in the middle of the restaurant. Excellent mashed sweet potatoes, and great biscuits. Live blues on Friday and Saturday nights.

Macaroni Grill- get their 'Simply Salmon' entree, it is a grilled salmon steak, no nonsense, and aspergrass that is grilled with some kind of oil on it, best meal on the menu in my opinion.. their ministroni soup used to be good, but it has been removed from the menu. their taramisu (sp) is bleeechhh!

The Mentone steak house- Great food, decent portions, smartypants waitresses, loved the place!

Slim Piggins Bbq(redlands)- Best corn bread I have had. BBQ is pretty tasty, but on the whole, an average place, not as good as they think they are.

Marie Calenders(Redlands)- Gordon Ramsey needs to go in there and light them up.. not every sauce or gravy needs wine in it. Honestly, it isn't always better that way.

Magik Wok- (redlands, by the 10/30 interchange) Some of the best hot and sour soup I have had.

Daves BBQ(Redlands)- cute place, average food, nice staff, forgettable, haven't been back since the first visit

The Jade Inn- Highland- Asian food, pretty good, the pine nut chicken is a very unusual dish, one of the more complex flavors I have ever experienced. All the food I have had there has been very fresh.

On The Border- Best beef Empanadas, ribs are great, just don't go on one if the times they have all-you-can-eat ribs, they cook them differently, no where near as good as when you oder them off the menu.

Olive Garden Ontario Mills- good food, I enjoyed it.

Hooters Ontario Mills- Any man that says he goes there for the food is a big fat liarspants! I had no idea you could screw up chicken wings as badly as they did!

Elephant Bar San Bernardino- Great place! interesting food, service not bad, unusual menu. Go early.

Just a start...

Any good or unusual restaurants you can recommend?

John

Rosa Marias or El Burrito both in Redlands.. Absolutely the best burritos around.. Hit one or the other up every other week and for sure after we get home from a G trip..

I'll throw in a few from Yuma

Kneaders - Right off the 8 in the Palms.....ooooh yummy. I once stared so hard at the dessert case I ended up bumping my face into the glass simrak.gif Then laughed hysterically at myself whilst Tony pretended he didn't know me. ~$10 if you get a combo and dessert

Mustards - in Old Town - so cute, locally owned, food is fantastic. Tiramisu is the best I've ever had. Italian food but they don't have a liqour license yet. However Wine Cellar is down the street and you can BYOB ~$15-20 a plate if you go for the good stuff

Garden Cafe - also in Old Town. RaptorWild can attest to their yummy breakfast menu! ~$10-15
D.O.N.E.
Alright - I got to share the love

Red Lobster has some freaking sweet lunch deals right now. I stopped going there because it's way overpriced for the quality of food - but they tempted me in with their $6.99 lunch deals. And it was good my friends.

Most of the 6.99 specials are shrimp - few dollars more and you can get about 1/2 of the fresh fish selection (lunch portion) and some other fish/shrimp plates. 1.99 gets you a side salad.

I went in and had 2 grilled shrimp skewers, salad, rice, veggies, and all those yummy cheese biscuits for about $9

Oh I got some to add

last time I was in San Diego we ate at Tioli's Crazee Burger (I think it was in North Park?) Ok DON'T order the Santorini (it was a lamb/beef mix, didn't love it), but the Brie cheeseburger, and Crab burgers were stupendous!

Joe's BBQ in Gilbert, AZ YUM

Yuma - Jersey Burger, little truck S of the freeway on Fortuna behind the Fry's HOLY smokes this place is good. So yummy, and the owner is a real cool dude too. He gets all revved up about his latest changes in the recipes and I end up getting fed bits and pieces while I wait for him to finish my order laughing.gif I love people that are that excited about food!
I also love his neighbor's taco truck - Tacos Durango. Delicious, I need to get back over there.
La Fonda's has got some yummy albondigas too.
Asian Star - real asian food in Yuma! I mean the kind of stuff you'd find over at your asian friend's mom's house (I miss her!). Not the stuff Jeannie Wah's and other places try to pass as asian food that is about as akin to asian food as Taco Bell is to real mexican food.
