The Members have spoken:
LA/South Bay - I 4th or 5th the motions
As JD said - Eat at Joe's/Redondo Beach for Breakfast or Lunch is good grinds - you gotta try it.
To add to that and probably appropritate for JD is: Fat Face Fenner's Faloon - one of the best cheese burgers and cold beer you'll ever have.
Giulano's sandwiches are good, not great but good: Torrance/Gardena/Redondo Beach
Burnt Tortilla in Gardena on Artesia just before the 91 begins is great.
I saw a here here for LOMELI'S, I second that in a heart beat, Mr. Lomeli tears it up - very good pasta, pizza and antipasta - been going there for over 20 years and............never had a bad meal.
A little higher on the 405, if you have never been there: Tito's Tacos in Culver City -- LA Landmark, tacos, chips and guac, red meat burrito rock - FYI cash only, been going there for over 35 years and.......never had a bad meal. Taco shop style dining.
If your adventurous - make a run to the hood (Beverly and Rampart) --- recommend a "day run".....Tommy's Burgers!!
I don't have to tell you, you should know how good it is.
All the above are reasonable in price and I have never seen less than an "A" grade

Outta LA
way down South to SD
I gotta try that Gus' place now for that Pastrami. My notable mentions:
Sombrero's Taco Shop - Mission Gorge, cheap, clean and good. Kick a$$ tacos, Carne Asada burritos, etc. -- it's all good.
Bully's East - Mission Valley, pricey (not Ruth Kris pricey), great steaks, prime rib, fish, great calmari and nice

--- drinks. They have a Del Mar and La Jolla location, I prefer the Mission Valley location, different ownership. The owners of Old Town Mexican Cafe also own Bully's East - they know how to treat the customer.
Old Town Mexican Cafe - awesome moderately priced, love the homemade tortillas right on the spot.
Hodad's (Ocean Beach) - they'll make you bacon cheeseburger that will shave 2 years off your life, but man is it good. "Old Guys" double your chlorestrol pills!!!!!
Filippi's Pizza Grotto - everything is really good - I am partial to the Pacific Beach location: antipasta, any pasta dish, pizza --- the italian subs with a side of italian dressing are unreal - these sandwiches make Giulano's sandwiches taste like you're eating Lunchables!
The Broken Yolk - a mirror of Eat at Joe's/Redondo Beach but a bit more polished - nice peeps, great breakfast joint, located in Pacific Beach, reasonably priced.
Hooter's (Mission Beach) - you know what they serve. I like this location, it is on the second floor and you have an awesome view of the ocean with a cool breeze flowing thru the joint and of course.... California Girls serving Tall Cool Ones!!!
