We started our Easter trip on a bad note. I was caught off guard and came a little too close to "rattler", as my daughter referred to her new pet after our encounter!!! I was minding my own business getting some food out of our camper to throw on the bbq, it was dark and I didn't even think about sidewinders at this point. I stepped out of my camper and heard that beautiful rattle of Mr. Sidewinder!!! He was a few inches from where I had just stepped out of my camper!!!! He wasn't happy about nearly being stepped on either, he didn't strike or anything, but he wouldn't shut up, just sat there coiled and rattling away. We caught him and took him about 50 yards away and let him go. We were curious about where he'd go, so we kept an eye on him tracking him from bush to bush, then we started seeing more tracks and started tracking those, we ended up finding at least four snakes that week, maybe five, depends if "rattler" came back to our camp or if it was another one.

We decided to get a few pics of one of our new pets, this one was very calm and never rattled, so my daughter named him slither. Slither seemed to like getting his picture taken, he sat on my daughter's new quad (she wasn't happy about this!!!!), posed with a can, a flower, other quads, wherever, he didn't seem to mind. We brought him back to camp and kept him in a box and found a few friends to keep him company until we left.

Stinger showed up uninvited under my friends storage box as he was packing up to leave. It looks like he's been around as he was quite large, he kept slither company in their new home for a few days.

Now back to rattler. A day or two after letting him go, I come back to camp after sunset and park my quad. What do I hear? That beautiful rattle once again, my daughter figured rattler was a fitting name given the fact that he wouldn't shut up!!!! This time he was about six feet away, we caught him again and put him in the box with slither and stinger, they seemed to get along real well. We ended up letting them go when we left, if anyone would like to visit them, they might be found in between washes 23 and 24 right up against the dunes...

Here's some pics of Brittney's Easter pets...

Keep your guard up on these warmer days in the dunes. I don't know why Rattler came back or if it was even the same one, maybe he was attracted to the music as he came out after the tunes had been playing for a little while, the speakers are on the ground, you think he was attracted to that??? Don't know, but watch out and keep some litter pickers nearby, best snake catcher you can find!!!

THAT WAS THE MOST DOWNRIGHT SLAPPTACIOUS STORY AND PICTURES OF MOTHER G CRITTERS TO DATE. HOT DAMN, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT JBENNET. Your entire piece is going into the McScrappbook. And, as a matter of fact, Slap would love to send you a Slappy Package, you definitely deserve it. Please send over your address to Slap in a PM.

The cool thing is, you was creative with your pics, and know exactly what da Slapster likes. And, you didn't hurt Mother G's critters; you hung, educated, and let them go. Hot darn you are a Slappy Favorite. Great job, and well done.

Hey Slappy, that's awesome!!!!! I'll tell you what, I was second guessing myself about our camp spot at first, but it turned out to be the best spot we've ever camped at in our years at Glamis. Just learning how to track Mr. Sidewinder made me feel so much more comfortable camping in his home for the week, I'm glad we got a chance to experience the best Glamis has to offer and my daughter was able to see something 99% of her friends will never experience, that is a mastercard moment in itself, look at that face... PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!! laugh1.gif
