Good! If you can't ride there, you can't be there.

I agree with you Bansh. It's an off-road park only. Eliminate the riff-raff. Peace

It was weird.. We rode to hill fri night for a few just in time to see the Chopper take off after the buggy crash. We were like WOW, its a dead hill especially after the drags were so crowded. Oh well, went for a ride and then back to camp.
Sat night we had a group of bike riders (no lights) pile in to a truck with a friends preggo wife and they were gonna meet us out there towards the double way in the back.. We get there and think WOW - dead hill again. Perfect for us.. They never showed. So thinking they got stuck or something - we rode sand highway out -
WOW, 4 check points to get in to the hill - so that answered our question as to where our peeps were.
Noticed there was a truck stuffed in every hole along side of sand highway. I would look over and see a tailgate sticking out of each hole. With visibility down to nothing - not a surprise.
Rumors were - all the party peeps went to the drags?? ANYONE??

Yeah last night a few of us went to the hill and it was dead. We sat atop of the rig just left of the hill and had a small fire going. We were there for like an hour waiting for the show but nothing happened.
But on a better note we had one of the more rememberable rides back with me popping a bead on a front tire...

I read the minutes from the TRT call on 12-1 that LoBuck posted.
The ranger said that the road to Olds was closed to all traffic, they said that if you could get to Olds by going over the dunes then "go for it" If you had to take the road, then you were up the creek with no paddle

Sorry that this riff raff and my group only has dirt bikes with no lights. Guess I can't do anything at night cause my 4WD truck isn't allowed in the dunes... Wait, I can physically climb olds all day and night but am not allowed to drive there? Bummer I'm not a bajionair and can't afford a f/s truck to haul my imaginary rail out so I can participate in night time fun. College didn't work for me I guess?

You just cant take the road is all.
Put it in 4x4 dune there. No problems..

I'm sorry but I disagree with this tactic. If the BLM are able to set up roadblocks and shut down sections of the dunes at their discression then what is to stop them from closing down Gecko Road?
Those LEGAL folks in four-wheel drive trucks have just as much right to those dunes as anyone else who paid their taxes and their Demo Fee. It doesn't say anywhere on the pass that you may not be able to go to Olds if you do not have a quad or a rail.
Put up a sobriety checkpoint... check the drivers licenses of all the folks driving in... but closing the dunes to a select group of duners (they ARE still duners, after all) is, in my opinion, just plain wrong.

This has been a nagging thought for me too Brian.
Like the helicopter moving people along with the claim that they were parked illegally... in the sand... I don't understand where the authority to re-route anyone comes from.

Here is another spin on the subject. The BLM closes down the "safe" route to Olds hill, and therefore forces people to take alternative and sometimes more dangerous routes. This make the BLM liable for any mishaps or deaths that can occur. All a duner has to do is pony up a lawyer stating that the BLM closed the "SAFE" route and "said if you can get there by any other way it is OK", The lawyer is going to have a field day. Larry H. Parker will get millions. Why not, the government has tons of OUR money to dispose of.
One more chip of the old Glamis stone.
