I still cannot believe its legal to ride this thing on the street. Im not much of a Suzuki fan, but I have to hand to them on this one. This thing is so fun to ride and the best part about it is 55mpg.

Superstar70
Wanna sell it?
BMF250
How much do they cost?
Coobie
I had a DR 350 a few years back. It was kind of fun once I realized that it sucked to drive on the street and didnt perform very well in the dirt!!

Great mileage though!!

That is a nice ride! More pictures please and how much!

I keep saying it over and over...maybe one day they will listen. If Honda ever makes a Super Motard off their CRF450...My rocket is gone!
CoronaKid
Back in the 70's we bitched about the gas going from 40 to 70 cents a gallon

Find a 2002 CRF450R and it can be done....only that year though.

what mod's are done to it or is it stock?

New fcr carb will make it more peppy, Yosh exhaust will help. 3x3 mod for the airbox, and dont forget the MANUAL cam chain tensioner from thumpertalk.. the automatic ones dont last long in that motor for some reason. icon_biggrin.gif

Hit up thumpertalk.com they are the wizards of the DRZ and their store pretty much caters to them since they deal in such volume of the drz stuff..

If you want to get real wild check out the drz475 that thumpertalk built. I got to ride that thing and its an absolute blast icon_biggrin.gif

What about a 06 450x would make a good Super Motar?
sausage450r
i've been thinking of an xr600 to beat gas prices...i've havent driven my diesel in a month, just drive my ranger everywhere now, i used to use it just as a desert/race chase truck, but now its my daily driver! you can find xr's on craigslist for about 2k$ and then you have a fun dual sport

I did an undertail brakelight kit and flush mount LED flashers. I also rejetted the carb and did that 3x3 thing to the airbox and ordered an exhaust. I didnt want to go with the Yosh ......I got to try to be different.

Would be, but they arent street legal. Only in 2002 were the CRFs offered in a street version. You had to make a bunch of changes to it though.

Diesel is about 2.20 a gallon in Mexico.

Nice, I know I have been looking for a "street legal" bike. What made you pick this over say a streetbike? Hows the insurance compared to a streetbike?

I had an R6 awhile back and I never could get used to the sport bike ergonomics so I sold it after about 6 months. The DRZ SM on the other hand is nothing like that. For all intensive purposes its a dirt bike....and that's comfy to me. The specs say it tops out at 92mph, so its not sport bike fast. But its a torquey SOB for 400cc's

A little over $200 a year to insure.

I got back into bikes again when I got my GSXR, decided I wanted to start collecting them, If I am ever able to buy a 2nd bike, right now that Suzuki is my first choice
sLackuR
Thats all.. is that for full coverage or did you mean $2000.00 a year? Either way who is your provider?

btw thanks for the info I still think I am going to go the same route.

A little FYI, The Thumpertalk skid plates are the same as the utah cycle sports plates. icon_biggrin.gif Very fine pieces if you ask me.. Thick and stout. They are held on by the stock skid plate brackets and include a couple frame clamps just in case.

Why are you selling it already?

Another option is the KTM 450 EXC-R

I just bought one and it is street legal and is a blast! I have already put 500 miles on it and for a 450 it hauls! From what I was told unless the bike comes from the factory street legal you can no longer make a dirt bike street legal. With how well the KTM 450/530exc have been selling I bet it won't be long until Honda and Yamaha see the light.

Though the KTM SM's are sweet rigs, they come in at about $3K more than the DRZ

Family man
Good move, nice bike. I did that earlier this year with my 95 xr600, gets 55+ and has plenty of scoot. Getting a big tank and dropping the rear sprocket down to a 42 so I will have more top speed. Here is what it looked like when I first got it, 2 1/2 years ago.

This past jan rebuilt the motor with 11 to 1 piston and stage 1 hot cam,

A lot of fun on the street, just be careful of all the wackos
