Nice to see Olds returned to the people who dune.
Nice to see enforecement of passes across the board.
Nice to see all the fines and arrests made:
250 people for minor infractions such as driving without a whip (a flag) or driving in the dunes without a permit and dozens of DUIs..

Enforcement of the existing rules made the Dunes a nice place to be this past weekend with some 150K plus people.

Other then the paint-ball and beer can tossers at the drags - I would say TG weekend was a success in keeping the RIOT problems out..

Thanks..

They did a great job in the south dunes too. I was pulled over 2 nights in a row when they saw me driving my truck holding a can. It was orange soda both times. They apologized and told me to be safe. They weren't out hassling people for no reason. Overall it was a great weekend.

I agree completely, not once did I see the gang mentality of a bunch of LEOS getting ready for their charge into Olds. They were very helpful this weekend, saw them help a guy out who was stuck. Also saw them helping a guy on a broke three-wheeler. My buddy rolled his big suspension car at Olds on Friday afternoon, they were on the scene quick, made sure of no injuries first, talked for just a minute and were on there way.

the rangers i spoke with were all pretty cool. thur night at olds i walked up to one asking what had happened(buggy crash), didnt have an bad atitutde or anything, then fri night we were at olds again a ranger came driving up at first we were all kinda oh shiat, no what, but he was just crusing around bsing with people. funny now that i think about we were talkin to him about the idiots in trucks, and ther were no trucks at olds that night, didnt even notice that, lol.

I was there from Monday to Sunday, and LEO's got up-close and personal with me on four different occasions. Twice they came into our camp and asked the ages of all the people (noone under 24 icon_wink.gif ) and we got pulled over twice.......once on the 78 (swerving a little because of the 15 lbs of air pressure) and once in the sand by Sweet Marie's. My buddy didn't have a whip on his bike, but had the mount he'd just bought at Krazy Kevin's in his hand, so the Ranger let him off with no kind of hassle. The guy who pulled me over on the 78 didn't even ask for my ID!

The moral of my little story here is that the LEO's were making themselves seen, to be sure, but weren't about hassling anyone. Even when they came into our camp, they would look around real quick, ask the ages of everyone, and leave. The way that they were checking passes was also pretty productive (I think). I'm willing to bet that 95% or more of the people out there over the weekend had a pass.

I've noticed a real big difference. I feel a helluva lot better about them now as I did at the beginning of the season.

After I mentioned to a certain vendor that the LEO's seemed to be more considerate, the vendor said that the word on the street was that due to the controversy surrounding the kid and the two Rangers, the LEO's were more careful to get things right before over-reacting.

I was there for 7 days, and I saw lots of LEOs doing a great job. It was a great weekend.
