Lookin for advice from all you Quad pros.
My 02 Raptor (stock except pipe) keeps cutting out, boggin and dying at slow speed/rpm. Runs fine with choke about halfway on.
Need to get this fixed as its dangerous. This weekend had two incidents, while dunin came to a slow transition at an angle and bike shuts off then bike rolls once (you never seen a guy get out of the way so fast)

Same day, crusin slow through vender row. Bike shuts off and dude on an XR50 runs right in to the back of me. I think he wasn't paying attention though cause right after, dude runs into the back of a Ford Ranger
Carbs did get gummed up recently from bad gas but have been taken apart and cleaned twice by Yamaha dealer. What the eff is up with this bike.

sounds like the pilot jet is to small, or the needle is to low in the main jet

Paddles are 20X11X8
I thought about the jetting cause of the pipe, but bike ran perfect before the carbs got gummed up. The bike has not run right since the carb problem.

Sounds like a carb problem, might want to give it a super good cleaning to get it all cleared out. think your jet might be a little plugged.

I think you need to look at the jetting. Stock, these things are jetted so lean they barely run. As soon as you add a pipe or remove the airbox lid or change the filter, they become dangerously lean.
Cleaning your carbs while you're in there would be a good idea.

Thanks for the replies, I have had the bike at the dealer twice and they cleaned the carbs twice but still have this problem. Could it be that their just not doing a through job? Also could it be an air leak that would cause this? Thanks

air leak is another possibility, but i have heard of dedalers not really taking the time to take apart the carb to clean it proerly, they just pull the bowl off and spray stuff in it. need to actually take the carb off and take it aprt and get all the passages clean.

if you want something done right...do it yourself.dealerships are a joke.besides get to know your bike yourself because there may be a time when it dies on your far from home and your gonna need to know how to fix it.
it sounds to me like an idle(pilot) jet is clogged.take your carbs off one at a time and really clean them with brake cleaner and compressed air.make sure your airbox and filter is clean on re-assembly.also while it is apart write down all the jet sizes for future reference.you said you have a pipe-is the carb jetted after the install?if you added an K&N filter that would lean out your idle circuit thusly needing a larger pilot.also count the number of turns your airscrews are turned out from all the way in.
sounds like alot of stuff but it really isnt too bad.also the factory service manuals are very good as they give excellent info-stuff about what jets are in there and how many turns the airscrews should be at.check into some atv forums and you can compare with others.good luck.

When was the last time you cleaned the air filter ? Other wise clean the carbs and check your jetting.
