Alright guys, those of you who run seat heaters (vagina warmers as they are known around our crew) I got a question. I've put them in a few customers cars and have always ditched the factory switches for K4 triple sealed switches. I like what the factory switches look like with the built in 2 colored LED's, but have always been concerned about them getting full of sand and not working anymore. Then, at that point, the whole in the dash would be too large to stick a triple sealed switch without some sort of trim ring. So, as I'm putting some vagina warmers in MY car, I'm debating on using the factory switches. So, my question is this, those of you have used these seat heaters for a while, have your switches gotten chuck full of sand and had any issues?? How long have you had them?
Thanks
Chris

The stock vagina warmer switches have not worked out for me. I have had two sets get ruined by the sand

and am planning on replacing them with sealed switches. I think my problem is that they are mounted on the console rather than the dash.

See, that's what I'm afraid of. Is it open underneath your console? Is the sand getting in from the top or the bottom? How much are the replacment switches? I'm also putting a few sets in Motormonkey's, Dunefury's and RacerX63's cars (bulk order) and MM and DF's cars, their's will be in the center console. I sure as hell don't want problems on my boy's cars.

No, it's not open underneath but sand can always get in as you know. The problem appears to be coming from sand on the top however. I'm assuming the people who are not having issues have them mounted on the dash.

If you mount them vertically on a dash and have a full body, souldnt have any trouble. Why dont you use sealed switches with an led right under it, that way you will never have to worry about it.

That is what I did in PWR MAD's car, but the switches were in the center console and LED's were on the dash. In my car, the switches will go on the dash. Asthetically, the factory switches are nicer, but I think that I'm ditching them to not have to deal with it later.

What about wrapping them tightly with a small balloon then installing them? You should still be able to see the light when on?
Just as long as the switches don't get hot, do they use a relay?

If the factory switches to eventually die you could always just get a big aluminum fender washer, polish it up, and use it as an adapter to make the smaller aftermarket switch work. May even be able to fit the LED in depending on size.
That's what I had to do on my rail after a friend tried hotwiring it and fried my keyswitch. I replaced it with a toggle temporarily but the toggle was much smaller than the keyswitch was. As a quick and dirty "get out there" fix I just sandwiched a washer between the nut for the switch and the faceplate of my dash. Worked like a champ. In fact I kind of like the look, gives the dash a bit of "depth". If I wasn't planning on putting the key back someday I would dig up an aluminum washer and polish it to make it look even better.

I have the factory switches in my car, and they do get sand in them. Sometimes I have to go back and forth with them to work right again. But they still work(for now)
