In a nutshell...

WHAT A POS!!!!!!

Ive had this thing since July 03...less than 6 months and it is totaly shot. No resistance whatsoever! The rebuild kids have been on backorder for over 3 months...and the best Denton Racing had to offer was to SELL me another one for a discounted price!!! Great service eh? Personally... think they should replace the damm thing for free! But i guess customer service isnt all that much of a priority on their to-do list. dry.gif Not only does Denton Racing's service suck...so do their products. angryfire.gif I have to admit...i was told on a different forum NOT to buy one. That it was a POS and a waste of money. I guess i shoulda listened.

I still belive a steering stablizer is one of the best investments you can make to your quad...but...save your money and get a real one!!!

Scotts Performance is what i will get ASAP. Three way adjustable...fits every bike out there...and is used by almost every Baja racer alive.

So what ever you do...DONT BUY FROM DENTON!!!

Thanks for the heads up Joe. I was real close to ordering a GPR stabilizer but ended up going with a scotts simply because of their reputation.

What kind of benefits do you get from a steering stablizer? Or when do you know you need to replace?

Rivermobster: I haven't taken delivery of the bike yet. Look for a write up on it in the next couple weeks. I can't say what it is yet as it's a secret. icon_wink.gif

Bansh: A steering stabilizer will cure headshake (Barslap/tankslappers) on most any bike you can fit it to. It's like a shock for your steering. The baja guys claim they can take their hands off the bars doing 110 through the desert and the bike is steady as a rock. The bike tires you out much faster without a steering stabilizer if there is alot of headshake. You know it's worn out when there is no resistance in the stabilizer.
SHOCKER
How much does scotts steering stabalizer cost?

FYI: All the stabilizers such as Denton and ANY similar are all the same except the sticker. The exception is the PEP stabilizer, theirs are designed and built in house. MANY times people that get stabilizers mount them so there is a slight binding when your at full turn. This causes it to blow fast. Even mounted correctly they only last a couple years depending how much it's used.

The Scotts and GPR are the better ones. The GPR's (from what I have heard) are engineered better with better tolerances and is 8 way (on the fly) adjustable. To top it off it's lifetime guaranteed.

GPR sells a combo which includes a Roll Design stem, the GPR Stabilizer and a set of nice bars for around $510. This is a good deal considering the stabilizer alone is $350-400.

A Stabilizer reduces arm pump by dampening the bars from shaking around as much. This usually happens when it's very choppy riding conditions. Stock width quads don't benefit as much as wider front ends.

Check this link on the Denton.

I tried to pass your word on:

Thanks but again Denton is not 'bad'. all stabalizers of that sort are the same.
Don't single out Denton.

I got a buddy that works for Denton, I will ask him about it.

ok...i got to try out my new Scotts new years day out at Stoddard Wells. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!! With the Denton...or anyother type for that matter...your always fighting to bring the the bars back to center. Why? Because it damps the steering movement BOTH WAYS! The Scotts...only damps goin AWAY from center. The pay off? You dont even know its there!!!! I was intentionally goin way too fast over very rocky trails...and the bars jus stayed still under my hands. No jearkin around...no more holdin on for dear life. And no more arms feelin like you have been workin out for hours... fighting against the stablizer!!! This thing is a dream. I spent maybe 600 bucks between the new stablizer and some T2 bars...but honestly...it was worth every penny. In the sand...im sure a GPR...or a shock type stablizer would probably be *livable*, but if you do any trail, desert, or anything other than just sand....invest in the Scotts. You WILL NOT be sorry!!!
