has anyone had a problem with their transmission knocking? mine is knocking as soon as i start it up. the chain jumps a little when it knocks. if i shift it and hold it down the thing stops knocking. but as soon as i start going again here comes the knock. it is worse in neutral than it is if im moving. i pulled the engine apart and checked everything and it all looks good but still has the knock. so if ya can help me figure this out i would appreciate it.

either the spring detent is broke your shift drum is worn out or the pin on a shift fork is worn out,,, its a adventure in case splitting to fix that one,,,

I assume you've adjusted the timing chain ?
Would seem odd for the tranny to make noise without the bike moving.

yes timing chain is fine. if it was the timing chain it would knock even with the clutch disengaged. but with the clutch engaged it slowly stop's knocking until I release the shift lever. well I tore the case apart and looked at everything. and checked all the bearings and springs and pin's on the transmission. the shift fork's look fine no wear in them and they are not bent. I put it back together and it still does the same thing. but I took off the clutch cover and removed the clutch to spin the primary gear and found the transmission jammed about 1-1.5 turns. so maybe im thinking the dog ears on the gears are not engaging. a buddy has another transmission so i think i'll try putting that one in. lets hope that work's.
