Been doing various remodel type jobs to keep the $ flowing.
Did a remodel at these folks house and now they want me to build an electric ( slide type )
gate like this one:

I can do the masonry and run the conduit to the house, safety and exit loops, add a circuit etc,

Wondering if anyone on the board can or knows someone that can build the gate,
and install the operator etc.

BTW I am a licensed General Contractor if anyone in the Temecula, Murrieta area needs remodel type work. Also fix pool equip. Heaters, pumps, controllers, install salt systems etc.

Have built 6 turnkey custom homes start to finish , framed hundreds of houses,
and build a pretty mean ATC70 icon_biggrin.gif

I have to build 1 at my house soon nothing to fancy maybe a wood backed iron one. I am coping the mechanics of one at my shop.
It does not look to hard. But if it for a customer definitely better off with a tradesman.

I know a guy in Az who builds bad assed gates.

I have always said that given the proper tools and a manual ( or the internet) I could do anything.

but I think I would stop short of brain surgery icon_biggrin.gif

On a side note,

Once I have this Automatic gate thing figured out ...

maybe it would be nice to install one at the compound drummer.gif

They have operators that run off of solar energy..... ph34r.gif

Off subject, but do you do Alumiwood cover's? If so what do they cost per sq. foot?
raptordevil
They are real easy to do. I use to own a wrought iron business and we use to do them. You should be able to do and save yourself so cost.

I know a local guy I'll have him PM you.

swing gates might work best for the compound with openers. a sliding gate there would need a track laid and kept clean or the gate would get stuck.

Ha!

Being a good tradesmen sometimes mean knowing when to let another tradesman do the job laughing.gif

The arc along the top made me a bit wary, that and this being in an area of million dollar ( about $650K in todays money :shocker) Homes. I want it to look right. I'm pretty particular about what I hang my name and reputation on, could lose me work having a chitty looking gate that only sorta works hangin there for everyone to admire.

And your probably right the swing gates at the pound might be the ticket, $19 gets you a remote.
of course Robbie would have to double his rates though. pwrmad.gif

I have done a ton of patio covers with a full photo album of pictures to prove it. but they have all been wood, mostly rough sawn big beam stuff as well as split header covers etc. Always wanted to get into the alumawood but never did. I like the idea of not wrestling a huge beam on top of the posts, icon_biggrin.gif
Also like the fact that they are basically maintenance free, easier to get permits for as they generally do not require a footing, Just have never sat down and priced one out. I hear they are 3 to 4 times the cost material wise than wood. If you are serious about doing one , shoot me the dimensions and I'll find out what the material will cost etc, get you a good deal for letting me experiment on your house icon_biggrin.gif

Here is a project I am finishing up:

And no I did not sew the canvas on the upper deck tongue.gif

I did install the french doors , 4 of them throughout the house...

I have a really cool O&M corbel saw that makes these designs on the headers and rafters .
Of course you can also order them that way from some lumber mills ...

Here's a redwood fence I built at the same place, the home owner is doing the stain.

Anyway , I think I could figure an alumawood cover out,

Let me know

I'm having a large project done at my house right now with RV parking and backyard scape, looking for Alumawood cover, but depending on $$$ is when I can do it. But you know what they say about "if the price is right". The cover will need to be 38'x 15' and close to 10' height. Let me know what you think. I have a post in the RV tech section with pics of my project. Thanks,
lokosvt
I will be installing a 13' sliding gate this weekend, its not electric but you can get an idea. Ill post some pics on Sunday.
