i thought i would throw this out there to the DD crowd, since Dave at DD wont return my e-mail. i have an 07 DD sand car (20x20) and the front end is set up way to stiff. i don't know what weight the springs are, so i will have to start from scratch. i have fox 2.0 with by-passes. i have backed the tension bolts on top of the shocks all of the up, and has not helped. what weight springs should i start with? any help would greatly appreciated.

Are your springs powdercoated so that you cant read the rates? I can check tomorrow and see what rate Shawn Jones from Jones Fab has on his DD sand car.

325/350 works perfect for my application. This is what Dave recommended when I purchased my springs.

^^^ That was way to stiff for my driving !. I went with 200/ 350 and I went with a little more pre-load for ride height and set the stops accordingly. I know that combo isnt the norm but works for me with 1 or 2 peeps in the car !. It all depends on you normal conditions. If you set your car up for 2 people it wont drive the same when you have 5 people in it !!.

Springs compress 1" for the given spring rate. Separate your springs measure them unloaded. Weigh them down with a known amount, measure the deflection and figure out your aproxamate spring rate.

I did it with some new springs by standing on them (200#) and having my wife measure them loaded. It worked out really close.

I feel your pain about Dave not returning calls. The lady that answers the phone at the shop refuses to let anyone speak with Dave. I have been trying to get the carbon fiber dash for my car for months and can't get a straight answer from anyone up there. I will say it, DESERT-DYNAMICS HAS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

try asking for dean. dean has been handleing the question calls etc. dave is spending almost all his time in the shop lately. they are extremely busy, shop is full of cars in various stages of buildups.

Send a PM to Team Tetrus here on the boards. He is a DD dealer/builder. I think his name is Dave also. If I remember his company is called Paradise Motorsports.

PM or call Brian at Fusion off-road. Screen name Fusion Offroad. He is also a DD dealer.

Call Kartek, They sell all of the DD components.

I would just tell you what mine are, but I powdered them and now cant remember.

Brian at Fusion is probably your best source.....

I'm not one for bashing but I have had enough bad customer service & Dave waisted about 5k of my money that I have to agree.

Have you tried backing the compresion and rebound screws out? It may not have anything to do with your springs... dunno.gif

i just think that Dave needs someone knowledgeable to man the phones. I understand that he is busy in the shop. It is just frustrating at times to get any info.
