Personally, I would lose the lid on the air box and get the pro design filter kit. As far as jetting, I am running 320's on my girlfriends banshee that has the FMF fatty's. That is with no air box, so you could go a little leaner. The key is to do constant plug checks. I am sure other people on the board can help you out with the rest.

OK here it goes.
I have ridden my banshee with all three pipes, the SST, the Fattys, and the Toomey T5. The best pipe I have found is the T5. It gives the most top end power, and the same if not more bottom end. It is just a plain better pipe.
As for jetting and air filters. If you are going to be running in glamis 80% of your time, I would remove the airbox completely and purchase the K&N filters that attached directly to your Carbs. Then run prefilters on those. If your not going to be in glamis most of the time, remove the lid and instal a K&N and prefilter. The prodesign adapter plate is optional. You can modify the plastic stock filter holder to fit the K&N just fine. (my friend did this) or purchase a aluminum plate(which I had and it makes no difference). We both eventually bought the direct K&Ns. I have bigger carbs so I dont know what jetting is right for stock stuff.
Reeds... I would say the Carbon tech high tension reeds are your best bang for your buck. These are a great product. Dont bother with boysen reeds or the rad valve, or reed spaces... (which I have used all) all a waste of time and money. Another option are the delta V-force reed assembly. These are awsome but extremely expensive.. your choice.
Dont purchase a boost bottle, they are a big scam....
And when you are ready for motor mods check out

ask for glenn, he is the banshee guru. They are into street drag racing right now. Talk about some fast banshees.

im running fmf fatty's on mine with the air lid on but modified.
i run the k&n w/ the plo flow flange.
im currently running 300 main jets and a 32.5 pilot jett. i have never had a plug go bad nor do i have any starting problems unless its really cold in the air but every bike is like that. i even changed my pre mix without foulin a plug.
it all depends on what you plan to run with the pipes and where your riding like everyone is saying. see i set mine up for across the desert more so i can run wide open for longer without worring about overheating. my bro is even running the same set up in his banshee and we both love it.
thats my $.02

Perhaps the best jetting we have seen for a "piped" Banshee is the Pro-Tec kit. Assuming you are using a K&N filter, filter vents (or air box top removed), your choice of pipes, this kit is the ticket.
I sell them for $ 35.00. It includes needles and mains. No need to change pilot jets. Add up the price of Yamaha exclusive pilots and genuine Mikuni mains, and you are close to the price of the Pro-Tec kit.
Be careful with Toomey pipes. We see at least a dozen or so cranks seperated each year, due to the fact that Toomey pipes allow the revs to go too high for a stock crank. You have to weld the crank pins for a long useful life of your Banshee with high rev pipes.
PM me if your interested in this jet kit.

Never heard the comment on T5s causing cranks to separate. I have run T5s for 4 years now, never had a problem. I ride the dunes probably 10-15 times a year, lots of hours.
I have the Toomey 2:1 air filter setup and like it alot. I have 370 mains and 30 pilots. My plugs look a perfect chocolate brown. Just recently put in Boyesen Pro Series Carbon Fiber reeds so we will see how they run next weekend at the dunes. I am jetted rich, but that is how I like it, better safe than sorry and I pull strong through all of the throttle. JMO.

Toomeys!
I've run three different pipes on my Banshees. FMF, T-5's and Pro Circuit.
FMF's good poor, Horrible fit, always leaked!
T-5's Great top-end, great sound, good fit.
P.C. Excelent Fit and looks, still trying to figure out a tuning bug, but really like the pipes, but when it's running right the power is right up there with the Toomeys.
Used the Toomey Jet kit, perfect right out of the box.

First thing to do is throw away the dual carb set-up, and get the single 34-36mm carb. Best thing I have done to my bike. Always good jetting, and it looks good. I run the Bill's pipes, stage three port, coolhead 19 domes, 34mm carb, carbon tech reeds, .25 over pistons.........its not much, but I never have problems (knock on wood.) When I had stock carbs, I was using 320 mains with a 27.5 pilot, k&n pods.

i have an 03 banshee with SST pipes.i removed the stock airbox and installed the UNI-filters to each carb.i got rid of the TORS and installed the idle kit.i run 27.5 pilot(idle) jets and run 290 or 300 main jets.i also run my pre-mix at 40:1 after the break in mix of 24:1.my bike starts on 1-2 kick after it has been run.i also put the twist throttle on-wouldnt ride it w-out it.if you really want to know about banshees go check out www.bansheehq.com . evrything banshee related is there.the main thing is -is that every banshee is a tad different ,like mine doent like the 30 pilot jets but others really like them.the key is to get in the ballpark immediately after the pipes are installed

good luck
