I have a WW SLC3705 and I'm planning on adding a winch setup. Who has done this? I want see some pics and ideas. I would like a simple set up one I can remove easy. I was thinking of some how using the tie downs in the trailer.

I'm looking to do the same thing. The SLC I'm looking at has a hatch opening on the bottom step of the stairs (leading to the bath). Perfect little space in there.

I installed a winch under the steps of my WW. I used a winch mounting plate and drilled holes through the floor. Under the floor I used a piece of 1/4" plate with holes drilled out and bolted it through that (I had to drop the fresh water tank to access the area). I had thought about a removable winch set-up but it is nice to have it ready to go at the push of a button.

I was thinking I had to do the same thing (drop the tanks) in order to make mine work. Ill have to look at it again to make sure. Can you recommend someone that makes the mounting plate N2Deep?

I have the same trailer, but I have to look at the steps again. I dont remember an opening on the steps.
I think the plate is a simple 1/4 piece of plate cut to size, I dont think its hard.
what I want to know is how is the floor holding up. I will be loading a Sandwinder LTX Pro4. I think N2DEEP has the same car.
Another thing I was wondering about is where you get your power source from? Once its under the stairs.
the winch is a small 3500 lb capacity. what i like about, it its remote control. so I can guide the car at the same time.

I would like to see a couple of pics of that if I could.......

I am using the winch mount from Harbor Freight but a standard piece of plate would be fine also (I just think it helps spread the load out over a larger area). As far as underneath the trailer I just used a regular piece of plate and drilled holes in it. As far as the floor it is holding up, it has held up great for three of us in our group. Brian has had his for 3+ years (mounted with no plate on top) and has had no issues with the floor either that I am aware of(also has a Sandwinder LTX Pro 4). I don't currently have any picturesa of mine but here are a couple of Brian's, he mounted his roller fairlead in the step, I chose not to so you wouldn't see it (I just lift the step up when using the winch).

I did something similar except I welded a plate to the crossbars of the frame under the steps. Then sandwiched the mounting plate ( came with the winch), the wood floor, and the new welded plate.

There were pics on here, but I think they got pruned...

Nice Pic! Looks very do-able.

Looks like a warn winch? If so, what the model number and the cord - are you plugging it in or is it hard wired?

Thanks for you help!

I have to do the same t omy WW in a few weeks. I made a trailer hitch type mount for mine on the flat bed trailer and I think i will do the same for the WW that will fit inside the step. I will end up with just a 2 inch square hole in the front of the step. All this is done so I only need one winch for two trailers. I will hard wire a plug in the bottom step too.

I just mounted my winch yesterday. I have a few more steps to do (hook up the electrical). I purchased a mile marker PE2500 ATV winch with a remote control. The winch itself comes with a small mounting plate. Do not buy their universal mounting plate, its about 3ft long and will not work with the PE2500 (Thanks Winch Depot).

I took the small mounting plate that the winch came with and ran it to my local metal shop. Had them cut me a 10x10 plat with the same bolt pattern.

Dropped the tanks - Piece of cake.

Did a few measurements

Drilled out the holes and mounted the winch.

I cut back the carpet on the front part of the step (on my 3905 SLC).

Cut out a hole for the fairlead.

Now, I'm going to run the fairlead INSIDE of my step so I don't stub my toe on it. I saw another photo on this thread that's gonna bust a few toes over time.

So far so good. I'll let you know how the whole thing works out once I get the wires hooked up.

Really not that difficult of a job. I was dreading it until I figured out how easy it was to drop the water tank.

Yep, thats what I did. I also removed the big gluteous maximus hook. I use the threaded chain link things like on many trailer safety chains.

Here are some pictures of my set up. I used the high dollar unit from Harbor Freight laugh1.gif . I would probably run the Warn 3700 but this one does the job. Like I said earlier I also used 1/4" plate under the floor.

Wished I would have seen this winch for sale somewhere. The mile marker I got caused me a few headache with their crappy wiring instructiong (they are color blind). Anyway, it's in and the wireless remote works. Way more wires than I expected..
