You want a V type paddle if your wanting to slide around alot. The sand skate 2's are pretty popular. I would think an 8 paddle will be just fine. Stay away from the sand gecko's as they are heavy.

sand skate II's all the way....we have a trinity 686 raptor with 8 paddle haulers and still cant spin the back tires out in a corner

plus the skate's are really fun cuz all your buddies look at you all the time and say "HOW THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT!?"

get the new ITP sandstars, I have a raptor, put them on this season, and they are the best tire made, Period. They grab like no other, but slide so easily, I did have the sand skate II's and at the bottom part of the v on the paddle they started to rip off in big chunks after 1 season, and they are doing it on my buddies quad which is a Z400, so it isnt the power from the raptor, also the sand skates are about $85.00 per tire, ITP's are i think about $65, and they are about the same weight, I am going to buy a second set for my Yami YFZ 450, right after I recover from the Xmas shopping, good luck, Ian

I have Sand Skate IIs on my Raptor (piped, jetted, open airbox) and love them. I've seen the ITP Sandstars and they look to be a great tire. Get the front and rear Sandstars mounted on ITP rims and you've got it all from one mfr.
I've got ITP rims with 2.5" spacers rear and 1.5" front, wrecked it pretty bad a few times (bent the tie rods every time) and the rims are still like new! I'm impressed!

If you decide to get the sandstars got to CMC, they are $140 for rear sandstars on itp rims

I've got Skat Trek "The Edge" as my rear paddles and so far so good. I get a lot of complaints from people who ride behind me because they shoot up so much sand but it doesn't bother me
I've got the new ITP Sand Stars with dual ridges in the front and oh what a difference they have made

I love them.
I would go for the ITP full set, put 22s wide set on the front.
A friend of mine has the Sand Skate IIs and they are no good. His are starting to tear/chunk in the middle of each paddle after 2 seasons.

Compare the weight of the ITPs to the Sand Skates on Douglas. You may notice the ITPs weigh about twice more! Don't be fooled by fancy imitations!
STU all the way! Douglas all the way!

ITP's work better on my bro's banshee than his Sand Skate II's. So I think Bansh88 may be smoking something.
