I am looking to get some new front shocks for my banshee. I ride in the dunes and was looking at the basic elkas with rezi's. Anyone have opinions about these vs. pep or works, etc.? Need some advice. I have +2" a-arms witht he stock shocks right now. My rear has been revalved with stock swing arm.

If you ride for hours at a time and hard, get Elkas, PEPS, works, etc, but make sure you get reservoirs (triple rates if possible). Money well spent.

To be honest with you, you can get away without reserviors (and dual rates) if you are a casual rider.

Shocks with rezis look much better, but is it worth spending the extra bucks for a casual rider?

Your decision....

PEP's all the way...

they make a wide range of shocks for the rec rider to the full on racer.

And with PEP you know they will be setup properly and be the best shock for your money!

For serious riding I’d recommend the Elka triple rates w/ zero preload and hi-lo compression adjustment. Unfortunately even if you don’t need the rezi you have to have it for the hi-lo comp. adj. and they aren’t cheap. If you get these for the front you’ll need the rear one as well.

For more casual, i.e. slower less aggressive, riding you could get the same triple rate with zero preload but without the adjustments and rezies.

To be honest any of the top manufacturers will make you a good shock, I just happen to really like the idea of hi-lo compression adjustment like the 2-wheelers. Whatever you do don’t buy a cheaper shock w/ rezies vs. a better shock without because you think they look better! You’ll be much happier riding good shocks without rezies then crappy shocks that look cool. Now if you think you need them then spend the $$$. And if you do get new fronts you should at least have the rear rebuilt to match if you want to save money or buy new to match.
