Going to add a cooler and a pump to my 2d. What type of pump are you using and where are you buying.

Thanks

I have a flojet pump. You need to have it on a thermostat switch or you could burn up the pump when it is cold due to the heavy trans fluid.

I'm doing the same thing, I bought a Tilton pump and will show some pics as they come

make sure you run it thru a filter too because the small metal flakes from the gears will ruin the impeller on the pump.

Why a tranny pump? I understand in automatics but in a standard gear box?
I always figured the 2d's fins where good enough for heat dissipation?

I had a cooler on my 2d and it does make a big difference in keeping the trans cooler. I set mine up with the pick up near the bellhousig down low and the return near the nose cone up higher. I have talked with Wright Gear Box (Ricky) about this and he does recommend it. You can also just run it with a relay and a switch instead of the thermo. switch ither way it does help and is a good idea. I and going to run one on my new s4 with a switch the hard part with a switch is to rember to turn it on. Good Luck

Here is a picture of the pump that I am running. I have also included a link to their web page. I liked this pump over some of the others due to the fact that it is all aluminum, no plastic.

$550!!!!
Ouch... Small price to pay if it prolongs the life but damn that still hurts. The 5 speed Fortin I am using in my new car doesn't have a pump. Better ask Geardoc if it necessary?

I don't find the flojet pump anywhere and what is the billet pump ? What are you looking to get for the pumps? what the condition? looks like it would be smart to do this now.
Thanks

I thought that the purpose of the tranny pump on the 2D was to keep the oil from drying up in the nose cone when you are hitting the hill or doing wheelies or anything else that pulls the fluid out of the nose end of the tranny. ??????

Im going to add a relay switch in addition to the thermostat switch. When the pump (at least the flowjet) is hot after running for a long time it seems to draw a lot of power and trying to start the car with the pump running has given me problems a couple of times.

Hum I never had that problem with mine but most of the time when I stopped it was cool before we started again. One thing that you might want to check is your bat. make sure it has a full charge and is holding it (just something to check) and if you put the switch in you will just have to rember to turn it back on (the hard part) good luck.
