what you all think of having a beach/bay party down here in San Diego?

Maybe a beach day and a bay night? or we could just do bay - anyone with boats can show up..
we can pool money and rent a boat or two?? anyone want to sail??

Oh yes!!!!! I vote Fiesta Island or the bay somewhere!Would be nice to go somewhere that an RV or two can be taken.

That's a great idea. De Anza cove on Mission Bay is a good spot for parking RV's right along the edge of the grass area. I could bring a volleyball net and there's a sandpit for horseshoes. I'd be down for that.

booze ban sucks and we know that.. if we had a couple rigs there say at fiesta island then we are legal inside the rigs..
we can always get around it - but lets put the booze part on the individual..

I like the idea of a learn to surf deal.. I have 4 boards etc... its all wishing but a morning of surf - head over to fiesta island and spend the afternoon into the night with a big fire.. pull in as many rigs as we want.

one thing Ive learned with the gd folks.. if you plan it, they will get it done.. nothing stands in our way.. never has, never will..

Is the alcohol ban on all beaches? I thought it was just Mission Bay beach.

rob, im in for the fiesta island part, surfing isnt my thing tho after getting blasted in the head with a board some years ago. lets get some rigs together and get a nice spot on the isl for a day of fun! want a big fire? call late nate!

thats what Im thinkin.. those that want to surf - we can do a session early at tourmaline and then have you rig guys come down and set up early so we can all meet up at lunch.
just remember there is no over night camping but it could be a really great time all day etc..

Im an old sail boat guy, we could rent a could sail boats and race..

Steve and I go there alot, the fireworks start about 9:00 I think and they supposedly close at 10 but we have been there past that... Oh, and we just make sure we have plastic cups too...

We can bring a trailer too... and we have wood too. but don't forget I am having a party on the 2nd of Aug. Hope to see you all there... you can practice your horse shoes for this party.. LOL check out my thread..

I heard you can drink on Coronado only. Fiesta would probably be the best place to go! I'll be there where ever it is. No surfing for me though

Plastic cups won't help, the life guards have a device that can detect alcohol

There is also no smoking at most of the beaches.

You can get a permit for alcohol.

Fiesta Island does not have life guards on the beach, only in the water is the water patrol. and once in a blue moon the cops drive around the island..... we have been many times and no problem..... you just have to be under control.

Yeah, this oughta' be fun. One good thing about a beach party, if anybody starts having dune withdrawls we can just throw a handful of sand in your face and you'll feel right at home. Chummin, I like the idea of surfing in the morning.

8/30 would be off the hook, although that's Labor Day weekend.

No they dont allow over night parking, but right up the street towards the hotel I think you can park on the street over night. skateboard or bike or flippers or feet is you like walking or ..

Invasion is the 24th - skip labor weekend - so Sept 6th is the next slot open..

That weekend? Count me in. Probably take the trailer...wife, three kids and three dogs.

I think I'll have my 25' trailer back from Parker by then. If not, I can bring the 40' trailer down to Fiesta Island so we have a place to eat indoors (if it's windy like usual) and warm up side dishes in the micro, play music, etc. I can get there early in the AM and stake out a good fire pit.


We usually go down to Fiesta Island once every 3 or 4 weeks or so in the summer to let the dogs run amok in the water, BBQ some burgers and have a big bonfire. We'll schedule ours to coincide with Sept 6. I'm pretty sure my sister and bro-in-law will come down and relax with us. At least the bro-in-law will show up, he can't pass up free burgers and Pacifico!

Pretty sure we can swing this depending on Trever's work schedule by then. Sounds like fun.

Checked the city website and it says there is some bike race that weekend.

No permits required, just pull in and find a spot, east side it good for no wind and south side is better for seaworld fireworks.

No permit needed. There's only 1 short stretch that has firepits, near Seaworld. They also shoot the fireworks off from a barge at 10 pm, great show, for free!


As for the bike race, they just ride by on the pavement. Plenty of room to put a trailer on the sand near one of the firepits.

Ok any place nearby to take the trailer and stay overnight?

I can't be 100% positive I will be there but I am going to try.
I can bring my boat and tubes/ski's/etcc... There is a few people here I would like nothing more than to "launch" them off a tube!!!
