I read a thread here regarding hitch failure. Ultimately, the trailer came unhooked and landed on the bed of the truck. One of the members responding to the post suggesting to look into the Blue Ox Bedrail saver.

Well, I just purchased a Husky 25k hitch and Blue Ox doesn't make anything to fit this hitch.

Do you guys have any other product suggestions to protect the bedrails?

I would not worry about you 5er coming off just make sure you look to see that it is latched. also do the brake test. Pull up the landing gear about 1/2 -1 inch off ground apply just the trailer brakes and try to pull foward to see if your connection is good. all will be fine after that.

I would be worried, have seen it happen on a old hitch while hooking up, Go with a Goose Neck save the bed space.

I used to do that until the hitch came loose anyway. Brake tested, raised the landing gear the rest of the way,had to shimmy a little to get out of the spot I was parked so I pulled forward, backed up, pulled forward again and when I stopped this time the hitch let go with safety pin in place. I now have a goose neck.

Im the one who started the hitch failure thread and i got 50 yards down the road b4 it let loose. And i did everything that has been suggested prior to towing and still ended up with 7K in damages.

I also installed a Bed Saver and like you they don't make one for my hitch so I just goy one close to my width and re-driller 4 holes and bolted it up.

It looks factory and it held up great when I tested the system out.

I am a firm believer in the Bed Saver, do what you need to do to make it fit.

Thanks for the input. Ill try the pull test as mentioned above to ensure everything is locked up. If I remember correctly, the Blue Ox set up I had was not wide enough to accomidate my hitch - and it has since been returned. I'm not too keen on fab'n up some stuff in order to make something of such importance "work".
