Just thought I would show you guys what some of the local D38 desert racers are using for a HID setup.. Yep they are the Kragen specials, and so far they are working well. We have a a night race coming up, so i'll keep you posted on how they do.

I plan on doing that with my dirtbike but i am going to have to mount a small 5amp hour battery somewhere so i can run the light otherwise i have to change or modify the stator for a charging system.
My idea is to get at least an hour of light cause thats about all i would need i figure with a small batt i could do an hour pretty easily.

The mounts are all custom made, but still alot cheaper than some of the setups out there.

Hey Kyle, Your lights look great but we need a the light to go out alot further than that. Thats the reason for mounting them so high. Going high speeds at night, you need it to be out as far as possible in front of you. But I bet your lights are bitchen for the dunes. So how much would it be to convert some 8" hella's to HID? Something that has a switch built into the light that can be easily removed?

I have seven of those Checker/Kragen cheap HID's on my son's race car, and they work awesome. The only issue I have ever had with them is two of them got a little moisture behind the lens, so we pulled them apart and resealed them. Other that that, we have two races on them, and several practices and they are still working great, and are plenty bright. He runs 75/80 mph with them and can see fine.

I have 4 on my Rhino and they are by far, the best money spent.
