i think it would be cool as hell to have a main page of any desert website where you can click on the name of the desert and it will take you to that website... so like if there was "glamis" on it and you clicked it then this website would come up. it would be nice to be able to check out as much info about the other deserts out there as it is to checkout glamis info too.

I don't think Buttercup is big enough for its own website?
I think the real answer is that no one has made one yet. You could have the first.

We hit Buttercup all the time at YumaDuners.com Since it's the closest exit to Yuma. We're having a Yuma Duner Dinner tonight but it's at Gordons this month - usually the last friday of each month we have a BBQ at Buttercup and all are welcome to attend.

Trust me shocker. Go to Gordons instead. Drags, 2 cool hills, Pair-a-Dice, way better camping area, way bigger riding area. Don't waste your time at Buttercup. If you're going to trash your tires just to get to Gordons, why not just camp there?

Camping better at Gordons? Yeah if you love a crowded dust pit. The dunes are basically the same unless you go pretty far North at Gordons. Comp hill at Buttercup isn't tiny like the one at Glamis. Then again, Gordons has 2 nice hills. Who wants to sit at a hill all day?

You can always go to the drags from Buttercup. It'll only mess up your tires if you haul butt across the asphalt. You're really not on it for very long and if you just putt you'll have no problems. Pair-a-dice is about 5 minutes from where we camp at Buttercup so thats really not a factor.
I'd much rather camp at Buttercup. Bansh88 hasn't experienced the real dunes over there. He went with some rookies that didn't know the dunes. There's actually some really nice ones if you know where to go. More technical than Glamis. Riding at Glamis is much easier on my bike than Buttercup but I like the challenge. Alot of the people that rag on buttercup haven't been led around the dunes by a good leader.
If I only had a buggy I'd definitely go to Glamis instead. Personally I like all 3. Just prefer to camp at Buttercup on the big weekends.
Just my 2 pesos.

You still moving to Yuma in a few years Rubberneck?
If so you may think you like camping at Buttercup now...but you won't believe how much you like camping there when it's only a 20 minute drive from your front door

jhitesma, not moving to Yuma. Moving about an hour south of Tucson. It'll be a longer drive for me. About 5 hours I think...
Going to Texas in just over a month. Then sometime in the summer I'll be in Arizona. It's high desert so the heat isn't too bad.

I was there in 97 and loved it.
20 minutes? You bastard guy!

Bummer, I thought you had said after Texas they were sending you to Yuma.
In the summer when there's less traffic it's only 15 minutes

Here is my 2 cents worth, on big weekend, Thanksgiving, halloween, I like to camp at Buttercup on the West end, its actually closer to the Gordons exit, just on the other side of the freeway, off weekends, I like going to gordons, its nice to find a camp close to the dunes, away from people the only place at buttercup like that is the cole-de-sac. and I like to be next to bushes so my dogs can water them. So camping wise, Big weekends=Buttercup, off weekends=Gordons,
As far as riding goes, I think buttercup has a larger area, I like to go to the very last set of dunes all around buttercup and make one big circle, I find there are more jumps, and more scenery around, (burnt cars, weird stuff from illegals, etc.), and at gordons, we only go as far north as Patton Valley, and as far east as the last set, just seems like it is a little smaller of an area, however, the dunes and transitions are ALOT easier at Gordons, then Buttercup, Buttercup has more razors, and more virgin sand, I am exclusive to gordons and buttercup, so if I am missing something please let me know. Thanks, Ian

Exactly SHOCKER. There's a couple bowls at Buttercup that are nothing like Glamis bowls. Transitions are smooth and so is the bowl. Plus there's a couple HUGE ones there! People can rag on it all they want. I still have fun there whether they do or don't.
