I'm looking to get some new Alpinestars soon. I am sold on them since my last pair have lasted about 10 years.

My question is this. Get the Tech 10's or 8's? Are the 10's worth the extra $$? I've heard nothing but good about the 8's, but haven't heard much about the 10's. I think they look pretty sweet and seem to have a some really good features. I just don't want to fork out that much cash if I'm not gonna like em.

Any 1st hand information is appreciated. icon_biggrin.gif

Looked at the 10's, tried em on....I liked the 8's better.
I think the 10's were $100 more at the time. Just couldn't justify it.

The tech 8's are better IMO, but have you tired the Gaerne SG10's? They are the best boot out! VERY comfortable, break in on the first ride and really durable. I know your sold on Alpine stars, but the new ones do not last very long anymore. The soles get worn out fast from the foot pegs digging into them. They would last me 4-5 months during race season. The SG10's have lasted me 2 seasons now and are still in great shape. Check them out before buying the alpine stars.

Well I went and tried on each set of boots today. I can't really say that the Tech 10's felt like $460 on my feet. I actually thought the Tech 8's felt more comfortable. hmm

I have both and I think I like the tech 10's better after wearing them for awhile you don't seem to notice them on as much as the 8's

See I thought that too. dunno.gif
what whoops?

If you guys are riding SX and MX on a 2 wheeler I can see it.

Vintage style Hi Points and Full Bore style leather boots rule baby for the sand and desert and they still make them. Once broken in you will never wear anything else. Great control and great for hiking in the sand should you have a get-off.

Went to buy the tech 8's couple a years ago and saw the 10's. tried on both but the 10's felt better to me. Bought them and love em. Can't say they are better than the 8's cause I've never owned a set but I love the 10's after 2 years. I ride glamis and the track and they are the best boots I've ever owned. Used to have some AXO's and they were good boots lasted 9 years, these smoke em though.

I tried the Tech 8's and did not like them. I ended up with Gaerne. I would try the Gaerne before buying anything. They are the most comfortable boot and took no time to break in.
