SHOCKER
Hmm, i got some for my z400 and they look great, an 8 inch wide rim?
ADDICTED
I just got some for my girlfreinds Raptor and they look great on the 8" rim. Work better then the Geckos.
Moto13
Something doesn't sound right there... blink.gif

I'd take 'em back, and tell them they are effen morons... 25argue.gif
DUNE
Are you sure the rim is the right size. They may have gotten you a narrower rim by mistake...
Xtermin8r
The problem you have when you order the ITP sandstars is they put and sell them with the rims as kits too keep the cost down, ITP sandstars come with ITP wheels, this is a bad idea , just for the sole fact that ITP rims are the 195''s and they are heavy, tell them you want them mounted on douglas 125's with the appropriate offset, or just use the stock offset with wider arms and axle like i did, hope this helps
SHOCKER
xtermin8r, I going to disagree with you, at CMC you can get the sandstarts on itp rims for 140, that rear 20" stars, I have front and rear sand stars on itp rims for my z400, and they are not heavy at all, both rims and tires are really light and having the itp rims is a plus
Xtermin8r
You can disagree thats ok.. Yes the ITP rims are good rims for desert riding, i wasn't referiing to the price, 125's 195's etc I am refering to the rim thickness.. can you say unsprung weight?.. I have 20 sets of rims and tires in my garage right now, and if you want to come over and weigh them feel free.. Less weight in the sand equals more speed. FYI i can get the sandstar combo for 129.00
SHOCKER
I was just saying they arent very heavy, and for the price the extra thickness is a plus
RRon3
The ITP's are a lot heavier than the Douglas's, more durable though.
Boat Guy
Are these a good sand tire for the Predator?
Rubberneck
I think they're a good sand tire for any bike with enough power. Predators definitely have plenty of power.
SHOCKER
They're the next sand skates they are light and hook up great
Xtermin8r
You can't go wrong with the sandstars, I like therm alot, I've used skat trak edges, gecko's (suck) sandskate 2, dune slider etc. I like the skate 2 and the sandstars the best. I also heard the maxxis roosters do very well also. I like duning more than hill shooting, thats why i went with the v-paddles
Boat Guy
Are they a good overall tire if I want to hit the hill as well as dune a lot? Or is there a better overall tire?

Thanks.
Rubberneck
From what I've heard, the sand stars are the best overall tire for duning and hill shooting. Sand Skate II's are pretty good too. You get either one of those and you'll be fine. Personally, I'd go with the sand stars.
redandblackonebanshee
quiet rubber boy, your a two wheel whore, dont be coming into the quad forum, and dont say the sand stars are the best overall for hill shooting cause they arent, buy some haulers
leadfoot350
Extreme haulers or hauler are where it is at.
big had
read this months atv sport mag, they did an article on the itp tires.
Here are a few facts,
1. a molded tire is heavier then a vulcanized tire-ITP are molded, skat traks are not
2.If your pushing more then a stock bike bigger then 400cc-you want a 10 paddle, not an 8 paddle.

personally, I run skat traks..they are double the money, but I like 'em.
I have had those cheng shin tires too, and to tell you the truth, I have never paid attention to the little things like which one worked better-I was enjoying myself riding too much to care...

buy what you can afford- skat traks are the best, followed by sand skates...
everything else is just another cheng shin if you ask me........ tongue.gif

Wasnt sure about these myself, but had a good connection, got all four mounted, ITP rims for front, douglas in back, for $220 out the door! Not a bad price considering your gonna pay at least $250 for sand skate II's just for the rears. I'm running them on the Bansh, and am very happy with them. My buddy actually put them on his Lt-500, and is also pleased, lots of hookup, for such a narrow paddle.

Big Had, I dont see any difference between the skateII, and the Sand star, oh yeah I do $100 icon_biggrin.gif They seem to be about the same weight, and paddle depth looks the same, and both seem just a rigid. I dont know about vulcanized, I ran haulers for years, and had lots of problems losing paddles. They work awesome until rubber starts flying off icon_wink.gif

What size should I get?
Dirt Girl
I run 20" Skat Trak "The Edge" as my rear tires and the dual ridged 22" ITP Sand Stars in the front for a Raptor. They're all on Douglas rims and my fronts are wideset. My bike has never been so nice to ride. These are the only paddles I have ever owned and I love them. A friend of mine has Sand Skates and I don't really like them as much as mine but I think everyone has their own opinions on this. There's definitely a ton of good advice from the guys on this topic.

If you're not happy with the paddles, take them back and tell them they Effed up. Let them know you're not happy and if the kids in the tire dept. won't take care of you talk to one of their managers. If something doesn't feel right it will definitely affect the way you ride and probably the confidence you have in your bike...which is no good.

Good luck!
