http://www.funco-motorsports.com/regatta.htmTHE REGATTA IS POSTPONED
Due to the economic climate the 2008 Regatta is postponed until further notice. We expect a good number of Funco friends to show up at Pad 4 & Gecko loop on the original date, Nov 8th, but the festivities, games, and food from the Funco crew will not be present. In conjunction with manufacturing sand cars we are diversifying into the UTV and off-road race car markets as well. We appreciate everyone's understanding during this time of transition, but be assured the regatta will be back!

I think Funco owners would be more than glad to jump in here... at least I would think so!! I'm sure that there are more than 50 or so people that could totally make it a Potluck & BYOB!!! After all that Funco has brought to the sand community, I not being a Funco owner would still be willing to help out!!!
I know that there is a guy on here that owns a few jumpers for the kids... and overall it could be more like a "Funco Show & Shine"...
Or Cruise night!!
You guys tell me... but I know I'm willing to chip in & bring a bbq & some meat!!

Couple cases of beer maybe??
C'mon guys lets do this for the Funco Family!!
what whoops?

+1 I don't even own a Funco but it sounds like a good idea
During these lean times though you need to pinpoint your publicity and marketing. I think the money spent on getting face time with customers makes them more likely to buy another downstream much more than magazine ads....................and they tell their friends,
My unlce owned a tire store and he attracted more business on the golf course than he ever did with radio and TV ads

Hey Grant, sorry to hear this, our family was really looking forward to it. I do however understand the reasoning behind it. If there's anything I can do please feel freeto give me a call.

Tough times all around us, hoping it picks up soon. We'll still be there that weekend, hanging out with friends and having a big bash for Rickredlines 40th. I know the regatta is a huge undertaking, lots of time and money involved. While I don't have the time, I have some money to donate should someone want to take on the task. Funco has always been one to give back to the duning community, maybe it's time for us to show some support back. Sure we all support them with our purchases, but in this instance it's a little different. They've always called it their customer appreciation weekend. Would be nice to call it we appreciate the Funco Family weekend.

Let's get rolling with some ideas. The George Family has done alot for our sport and the sand community time to show we appreaciate all the dedication and hard work they do for us every year... Screw the big tent and lets bring out the eazy-ups, how about a sign up sheet for those that want to be involved. Our family hasn't missed one these events in all the years we have owned Funco's, so this year we are still going to be in the sand with family and friends...
BOHICA send the check over to the BOYS and they will throw the Regatta...

These days its not right to expect a sandcar builder to lay down big $$$$ for a regatta. The SCU party is coming together and its going to be low budget all the way, thats not important, what is, is getting everyone together for a good time.
I own an SCU now, but have owned a few Funco's and have the utmost respect for the George family and their cars.
If the ball gets rolling on this, put my business down for $200 worth of gas cards as a raffle prize.

Why postpone? Like others said, potluck, and BYOB. I can assure you everyone will have fun, and nobody will go home hungry. I don't think any of your customers are looking for any handouts, in fact with your loyal base they would probably throw you guys a party to show their appreciation !

I agree. Customers enjoy these events to meet and hang out with fellow car owners. Looks like you guys will have a pre-regatta if nothing else. Sounds like fun

We will still be coming regatta or whatever you want to call it, the most fun I have had with my car since I bought it. We have been looking forward to it since the day the last one ended. I think most if not all the participants would show up weather or not there was a tent, food, tee shirts, etc. etc. or any activities and would still be willing to pay. We all bring our own food anyhow, just have a big fire saturday night, and have some follow the leader runs during the day. You can still call it a regatta and you won't break the tradition... Please reconsider.

Thats a great idea bohica!!! First, send a check to Grant for 500 bucks to get the whole thing started.( in the memo section of the check write, deposit for FASTER DADDYs Hustler) I'll pony up and double your contribution with a check for 1000 bucks to Grant. Josh from Danzio can chip in with a built LS2 donated directly to the "regatta". This will be the best regatta ever!

I have to make a slight change to this statement... I am taking the money to Grant and the Funco Family, since my appreciation is to them and their company for their continued support. I know they are busy and may not be able to attend the gathering, but I will still be there and I want to show my support in any way I can. I will support the cause and will do whatever (within reason) it takes to make the Regatta a fun time by all Funco Family members. See you there!!
