My friend has a banshee that starts and idles fine but when you try to rev it up it just dies. It has good plug color and new coil. The fuel is getting to carbs. The fuel tank breather line isn't clogged. I was wondering if the stator might be going bad. Or if it's something in the fuel system. The jets were clean and carbs were clean. Thanks for any help! Try checking the Air filter. had teh same probl;em witha blaster..the air filter looked clean but was over saturated with oil.
Also try the needles in the carbs..have you messed with those at all?

might sound weird but make sure the parking brake isnt messed up where the bike thinks that the break is on. those things have a stupid switch that doesnt aloow you to rev the bike at all and it sucks sometimes cuz you forget.
if its not that try the air filter. it only takes alittle bit of air to idle but alot to make it run.

Parking brake was going to be my comment too...
I know, it sounds stupid but we spent an hour, stuck in the dunes, with some REAL smart duners, trying to get a new Banshee to run...
Only to find out the parking brake was on.

Yea that is called the T.O.R.S.
Throttle Over Ride System.
Check the parking brake system and if that does not solve your problem by a TORS removal kit and get rid of that crap. The kit come with new carb tops and a new throttle cable don't forget to get an idle kit also. The TORS is only good for head aces so get rid of it as soon as you can.

Check the reeds, if they are broken it might foul the plug, or check the overflow hose from the gas cap, if its kinked it will idle but when you gas it it will die because it tries suck gas but no air goes into the tank so nothin is flowing into carb or cylinder

Thanks for the tips. I will try those things thursday. I just wish the guy could do the work himself. He doesn't know what a wrench looks like.

I've heard about a bunch of shees doing this lately. Best I can tell it has more to do with the shees being afraid of running into a 450 than anything else.

reeds are needed on the bottom end, once on the pipe, the reeds are really unneeded....i would say the rev limiter is the issue (P brake)

I stared at my Banshee for 3 days trying to figure out what the problem was. My buddy came over over and blew in the P brake. FIXED!
I felt like an A-hole
