Mitzelfelt letter supports a Marine expansion to the East and away from Johnson Valley.

Recent meetings with the Supervisor, Congressman Lewis, Senator Feinstein and the Partnership have resulted in the Supervisor's call for a de-designation of less than wilderness quality areas in eastern San Bernardino County. This de-designation would, according to Mitzelfelt, "facilitate the expansion toward an area with little conflict with desert residents" and "save the BLM's largest public OHV area for continued use."

The Partnership For Johnson Valley is excited to share this letter from San Bernardino First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt on the steps being taken to retain our desert resources.

Reading this letter is worth the time. Seems to me that the good Supervisor fully understands desert issues.

I have had the oppurtunity to ask him point blank about this issue and seemed a bit frustrated of what is going on... even though he is a marine himself and understands the request from the military. His answer was to watch the CORVA site to see what happens! Lets hope he goes to bat for us!!!! It would really suck to loose that area out there!

Troy, Not sure when you spoke with Brad, Im sure he
is now fully aware as of recent we are not taking on the Marine corps
as a full on battle for lands, rather PFJV and other orgs have been working
with the Marines to find solutions.

I think most who read this can agree we cannot compromise
our troops and they deserve proper training to fight for our rights.

Our mission has been simple, There is ample amount of lands
to the east of the base that would fulfill the needs of 29 Palms
training center.

Please... if you reside in Brad Mitzelfelt's district, Please drop him a note
and support this position. Also write your reps, Print out the letter and
show it, fax it whatever to your reps, like Duncan Hunter, Jerry Lewis and so on.

There are still competing interests that could swing things differently.

We want to keep Johnson Valley, We have the attention of the people who
reside in Johnson, they want to keep Johnson Valley.

Johnson Valley is irreplaceable
