In other years no one has been asked to actually "register" for the cleanup. You get a ticket, you get a bag and you're on your way. It's worked great and everyone has certainly worked hard.
But when it came time to count volunteer hours put into the ISDRA, the volunteer hours contributed for the cleanup were always just a really good guess. The problem with this is perception is a funny thing... last week someone said attendance was down last year, but the day before someone else said attendance was way up last year.
That's why when DUNERS was asked to do the cleanup we were also asked if we could find a way to log the volunteers that are participating... apparently an accurate count makes a difference in ISDRA support from the powers that be.
We have an army of workers committed to registration with clipboards and pencils and forms. What we'll be asking people to do is give their name, city and county. Although I have heard through the grapevine that is all we'll need, I'll be confirming it next week and if other info is necessary, we'll get that too.
It will be painless and quick, and most importantly, it will be really great for Glamis. You'll give the info, get your raffle ticket and a ticket for your free t-shirt, your bag(s) and be on your way.
We'll ask people to guess once again what the number of participants is so it will be kind of fun to see how close the guesses came to the actual numbers.
Early registration is available... we've had some large groups take advantage of this... contact me if you're interested.
