The Yamaha jetting instructions state to run their recomended jetting with the filter cover off.

I did that and ended up with a airbox full of sand untill I found this, The EHS Air Box Cover.

Note the filter is framed in quality billet aluminum as is the cover over the snorkle hole. The genuine Outerwear filter is correctly edged and installed smartly.
Choice of colors, and you can get the kit to build it yourself with your own airbox cover, or they'll send it to you complete.

Now that is one of the better Ideas I've seen. Beats cutting holes in your airbox lid!!!!!

Do you have to send your original in, or do they have a core charge, I have seen those before, seems nice. where & how much?

I've never had a problem with sand in the airbox! Take the little oil catcher thing off the bottom of the box. Sand falls out.

I wanted to keep stock covers too, so I just ordered them already done.

I think they were about 70 bucks each.

I jetted 45 pilot/165main/yz needle 3rd clip/2 turns air mix/ yoshi pipe tuned with med silencer.

Running this setup, removing the airbox lid, or using this EHS lid like I do you feel a noticable difference.

The cam advance mod, and larger jets give the yfz even more power.

I decided to start out with small performance improvements, then work up from there one by one.
