Well I just spent and hour on the phone with gateway due to a computer problem Im having. Seems to be a new virus going around.
The symptems are when you reboot, you have NO task bar and NO icons. Only your sreensaver is visable.

The thought is to get it, when online, you get a popup that says something about SPYBOT and do you want to delete this file? Little is know about the message exactly. If you click yes to delete, your infected, if you hit NO, your infected, and if you clickl on the red X to close the window, your infected.
THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID INFECTION IS TO CLOSE THE BOX VIA THE TASK MANAGER.

CNRTL ALT DELETE then close it.

If you get hit you MAY be able to restart via SAFE MODE and "USE LAST KNOW GOOD CONFIGURATION."

This thing sucks, and is pretty new, only aboout a week or so.

By the way... Tom said Gateway told him it was effecting Win98 and ME... until he told her he was running XP and then she said "you're the first."

It's a nasty one folks. How many of us just automatically close those annoying boxes?
