some more stupid things i've done lately (i have ADD and no money)

21'sandpiper

i doubled the cabinet space for 25 bucks

then i added an inverter for under 200 bucks

then last i added a bracket to mount a cheap wally world battery fan for 20 bucks
it makes a huge difference since the vent fan only sucks

i also converted to 6v so i am looking forward to seeing the difference

Good thinking on the inverter plug.

yah home depot...i used 12'' 3/4 lamimated shelving material for the sides, set the metal shelf on top and i used 1/4'' wire clips to mount them (for electrical) after i did install them i decided to put a ledger on the back to support the back of the shelf at the wall

good luck it's a piece of cake

I have a project this weekend too! I been thinking of this for a long time but would have never thought to use the closet organizer shelves.

Lift Kit for Weekend Warrior bed, I cut off the original tubes then welded on tubes 2 1/2 inches away from the other tubes, now I can pull the car in without removing the light bar. The bed will go up intel it hits the upper parts of the bed.

Smart and simple. good job.

I really like that lifting bed idea. I need to figure out how to disconnect the speakers in the bedroom from the stereo and make them into surround sound for the TV in there.

Got tired of my warrior pumping gas slower then molasses so I made a manifold that picked up the other feed line coming out of my transfer tank. So the pump pulls from two feed line insted of the one 3/8ths line. It fills a five gallon can with the quickness now.

I'll get some pics and post them up. The thing that got me going on it was the fact that GPI says the pump in out warriors should flow 8 gallons a min. comparable to gas station rate. well we know that is not true.
So I came up with this idea out of stuff laying around and it works nicely.

EZ.... add a seperate amp and grab those wires at the 'toggle' speaker selector switch. I added 4 amps and seperated the front bedroom, 4 den area, outdoor, and subwoofer.
this way all can be on, off or some one. when my kid sleeps, we just turn on the bedroom amp and watch in there...

Please post some pics of your set-up. Sounds like a good idea for all of us.
I'm also looking for ideas to transfer fuel from the main tank to an aux. tank rather than cutting and adding a second filler neck. The aux. tank will be for the genny and maybe add a valve to transfer back some fuel for the toys if I run low....

Did a couple of upgrades this off season.

Fuel Pump Station Upgrade

The fuel pump station on my weekend warrior was really slow so I took out the stock carter pump and dropped in a 250 gallon per hour Mallory pump. yay.gif I had to add a bypass inlet back into the fuel tank also.

Old carter on the right
New Mallory on the left

Installed. Will pump 4 gallons a minute

New Winch

Bought a 4000 Warn winch with wireless remote and put it in the first step leading up to the bedroom of a weekend warrior 5th wheel.

Added 2 X 8 on the backside of the step to add support
Has a manual switch on the left mounted in case the wireless remote fails.

Cut a hole out for the lead line to feed through and then cut the carpet for a flap. Installed velcro on it to hide it when not in use.

Just need to re install the carpet

Also added 2 toggle switchs. One to deactivate the winch when not in use and one to deactivate the co2 sensor. When the buggy is started in the trailer, it sets the sensor off. So I added the toggle switch to de activate it for pulling out of the trailer.

On the bottom side of the trailer I had to add some mounting strength. I used a 12 x 12 x 1/4" steel plate and 3/4 in plywood to straddle the cross beam. I had to drop the water tank to get to it. Then reinstalled the water tank.

The winch came with some short 6 gauge wire as it was made for a utv or quad. So I got some 4 gauge wire and ran it through under the sink and through the storage unit up to the front area where the batterys are. I enclosed the cable in track pvc to keep it out of the way and protected

Lastly I mounted the relay up by the batterys and hooked it up.

Added Side Marker lights

I found that the front and rear marker lights on a 41 foot warrior not to be adequate. Seemed pretty dark in the middle. Found this cool 18 wheeler accessory store and bought up a bunch of their chrome beveled LED's. Wired the sides (5 extra each side ) up with them and it is lit up now.

Also added a camera to the back of the 5vr so I can look at the hitch or switch to camera 2 for the back of the trailer.

Very, Very nice 80grit. You got alot of time invested in those mods. Well worth it!!

I always wanted a plug on the back side of my WW, I cut a hole next to the 110v wall socket inside and tied in the wiring.

How come you had to add the bypass back to the tank for this setup?

It is a higher pressure pump then the stock pump. This one runs at 18 psi. I left the stock on/off timer on the setup. When I disengage the handle to stop pumping, I didnt want to take a chance of burning up the motor.

So while the pump is running, and I disengage the handle on the pump, fuel is diverted back into the tank till I turn off the timer. Was more of a safety precaution.

Ok so for my fuel station mod what I did is get some stuff first.
* a few feet of 3/8 fuel line.

* 1/4 inch pipe thread to 3/8 barb.

* 1/2 female T

* 1/2 male pipe to 1/2 male pipe coupling about 1.5" long

* also got two 1/2 pipe to 3/8 barb fitting.

* 4 3/8 worm clamps.

What I did was got under the trailer and first pulled the barb fitting out of the pump. For this I had to take the whole adaptor off the pump and get it in a vise and seperate the barb fitting from the adaptor.

Then I built up the T One end with the Coupling and the other two with the barb fittings.

I then removed the plug in the transfer tank forward of the one warrior used and installed the 1/4 to 3/8 barb adaptor.

I then reinstalled the adaptor back in the pump, installed the new "manifold I guess you can call it" and hooked it up to the adaptor and hooked it up using the 3/8 fuel line and 4 clamps.

This seems to work very well for me and should set you back less then 30 bucks it is about a one forsty beverage in the time dept. and really helps get the fuel outta the trailer much faster.

Heres a pic of what you should end up with once it is all said and done.

Now my next idea is make an interconnect between the generator tank and the transfer tank so when we get back from a trip I can pump the remaining gas outta the generator tank.

Now of course this will have a valve on it so I do not always pull from the genny tank. Also since it will be a single feed line it will be slow but at least I can get to it.

Heres a pic of the genny tank and the extra fuel pick up adaptor.

Good luck and I'm sure I missed some parts this was just a sittin there got bored thing and had the parts laying around the shop. beer.gif

I have a diagram on a transfer setup between tanks and electric elector valve that Im going to do on my trailer. I'll post it up in minute.

This might seem like a no brainer but when you get tired of the door slapping back and forth for when you just want to open it for a minute or when it is a nice day and you dont want to latch the door, I got tired of having to go out side and unlatch the door every time.
J Alper
extended the black water holding tube to 5 foot, It was 4'' black pipe from home depot and it slips on to the white door.
J Alper
The ww dont have a water screen and they are hard piped, added the screen and used flex hose, it cut down the noise in half.
J Alper
All the fittings are slowly cracking, changing them out to brass from Lowes, Lowes has the clams you can crimp with vise grips, if you go to home depot you need to have a special tool to tighten.

BUmp for a GREAT thread that needs to stay going

Love the winch under the stairs. I am doing that as soon as the trailer gets home from the river!

added barrel chairs and a table, and moved the goucho to the back

I got rid of one couch and added a matching new dinette set and new couch out of a newer Ragen toy hauler. Much nicer, they even have arm rest. Makes it real nice since the Wanderer's only had a cheesey fold up table that always moved around. Also added some vent covers and a bigger inverter.

Here's the old ones

NEW ones

Added some roof vent covers "MAxFlow" so I don't have to worry about closing them when it's raining. Also makes a nice breeze come in during towing.

This Trailer's for sale.

If your asking about my table, I got a post and floor hole thingy (dont know what they are called) from the local rv shop for the outside and mounted a 1x1 on the wall for the table to rest on.

Please excuse me but I am new and was wondering, when you add multiply batteries do you have to have an inverter or seprate chargers for the batteries? also what does an inverter do other then convert 12v to 110? Thanks for any insight cause I want to add more batteries (only have 1 now) and want to make sure I dont miss anything.

See the various 2 6 volt battery threads going on else where. Just buy 2 6 volt batteries from Costco about $75 each and wire them in series.
Your inverter only converts 110v AC to 12 DC.

I have a roof hatch that I replaced about 1.5 years ago and it was dried out and cracking again so I decided to make a steel one.

Not only will I not have to replace the cheap plastic one anymore but this one is much more secure. I was always worried that someone could just rip up the old one with a single finger and climb right inside.

What do you think. I am going to have a screen made to fit the hole when I get a chance.

stetler
Ok, So I bought a Base camp radio set up from Matt and Greg at the SSSS and finally got time to start installing it in my trailer. If you guys haven't heard of this it's a radio that you can mount in your car, trailer, motorhome, or I guess home if you you live in the middle of the desert.
I really wanted this so the wife can get a hold of me if something happens while I'm out in the dunes or any kind of emergency while one of us is away from camp. Ya you can always use your cell phone but what happens when your driving around and you got your Rugged Radio Intercom on.......your never going to hear that cell phone.

Anyways, I started this install on my older Toy Hauler trailer and ran into a few problems.
1) I needed a good looking install, Not a under the cabinet install that looks like a truckers CB radio.
The good thing was I had a stock radio in my trailer that had a Tape Player. Yes, I said tape player. So I removed that and bought a CD/MP3/Ipod hook up player off eBAy for $50.00 . I then fabricated a new dash plate for these to mount in and cut open my cabinet a little more for clearence.

2) The speaker was now inside the cabinet.
So I bought a external speaker from RUGGED and mounted it under the cabinet wiht only 1 screw in the middle of the mounting bracket. This way I can swivel it around depending if I'm outside or inside. Also I left all the length on the speaker cable so I can remove the speaker and set it outside the trailer on the table.

3) I had no way of mounting the antenna on top of the trailer. I called Rugged and they don't offer a bracket to make this work. This is the main reason I posted this thread. I could not find any pics on the internet with "Toy Hauler antenna installs" I ended up finding a bracket on eBay for $13.00 that works PERFECT!!. The reason you have to go with a bracket like this is because of the interior ceiling and the roof. There's a 3 to 4" gap that won't allow you to get inside and tighten the bottom of the antenna base. Unless you cut a huge hole on the inside of your ceiling.
So I mounted this bracket and drilled a seperate hole for the coax to feed through and caulked everything up.

I am in the process of installing a A/B switch for some outside speakers so I just set the new dash plate up in the hole for some picturs so you get the idea. That is why theres a gap between the cabinet and the aluminum.

I'll post some more pics when I get done mounting the A/B switch, the Mic handle, and the iPod mount.

And the OEM "TAPE PLAYER" I think it had 7W of power

I'm also installing a built in ONAN 4000 Generator "Micro Quiet", a new side door window frame, a new door latch, out door speakers, and a Fuel Pump station. I'll post up some pics of those upgrades later.

SAND SPAZ - I like that steel hatch !! Looks way clean and Very secure. Let me know if you want to build another one? My plastic one never seals up.
