Looks like you have a lot of light there. I'm expecting a 4", 6" and 10" LED light tomorrow and I will be able to better answer your question. I'd like to say that they will be everything you could possibly need but I don't even know for sure.
Once I get the lights I will shoot a bunch of pictures so you can see what the light output looks like.
I will say that they look pretty good on a bike...

So I finally got a 4 inch LED light...

and a 6 inch LED light...

I'll get some pictures of how they look at nigt as soon as I can.
I also got 2 new 10 inch LED lights. One with the amber LEDs and the other with white.
I'll get pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Not to much of a difference between the 6 and 10".
That amber is crazy! What would it be used for?
LovesDunes
Sep 15 2009, 08:58 PM
Amber is good in dusty or foggy conditions. Not as much light reflecting back in your face.

Mike, remember how dim the 10" lights were in front of your house that night? These are the upgraded PCBAs and LEDs. Pretty cool huh?
I forgot to shoot the 12 inch Vision X light tonight. I'll do that tomorrow.

wow those are really nice lights! i think it would kinda be a waste of money to get 2 6" lights. if i can i will, but i'm think maybe just 1 10", but for a couple hundred more i get a lot of light

. we'll see what money i can get from a couple friends that owe me, if i get that money i will be pm'in you LovesDunes! im also thinking one of these might look great on my truck instead of 2 cheap auto zone lights for reverse! we'll see what i can get, all my money now is going in my truck finally.
not to be picky or annoying but can you take a pick of the whole light pattern? i get a pretty good idea of how wide the pattern is but it is kinda hard to tell with the tree there. i know it probably wont light up 180* like i want, but i'd like to get a better idea of how it will do since i already have plenty of forward light...but more wont hurt either

.
Thanks for the pics already, i can tell they seem a lot brighter than china models and seem worth it over them too!
LovesDunes
Sep 15 2009, 10:04 PM
I'll be taking better pictures in the next day or two. So you will be able to better see the light pattern. I'll also swap out the reflectors so we can see the difference between spot, driving and flood patterns.
Yes they are way brighter the China lights out there. I'd like to see them hold up to the "testing" too. For the price though, the China lights would make a good back up light.
I'll be here when you are ready.

Sep 15 2009, 10:08 PM
oh yeah, i forgot they had different patterns. what light pattern was that in the 6" and 10"?

Sep 15 2009, 10:10 PM
Driving
duneatic
Sep 15 2009, 10:15 PM
ok. so the flood pattern will probably throw the light out more to the sides. that would be great to see, thanks for the pictures! these look like they are amazing lights, looking forward to the pictures.
LovesDunes
Sep 15 2009, 10:20 PM
Yep, more side light should not be a problem.
Here is the 40" bar with it's typical driving pattern...

Here it is with more flood...

And it's possible to get even more flood than that with the 40.
duneatic
Sep 15 2009, 10:30 PM
oh wow that does a lot. that looks great, looks like the lights are pretty customizable. do you have to change all the reflectors or can you use some spot and some flood. is that what you meant when you said the 40 can get more flood?
LovesDunes
Sep 15 2009, 10:36 PM
The reflectors look like egg crates. The 40" light has 20 of them.

There are different shaped reflectors to do different things. They can be arranged in the light however you want them to be. Usually the spots are in the middle with the floods to the outside.
The reflector is the reason these lights work so well. They consume almost half the power that the Vision X or China lights do and they are brighter.

Sep 15 2009, 10:48 PM
oh i see. i see the 6" has 3 of them, so the 10" has 5? can we buy the reflectors separate to try different set ups?
LovesDunes
Sep 15 2009, 10:49 PM
I believe so but I have never asked.
I'm thinking that might cause a warranty issue though. I'll have to find out.

I might be getting some 4" Hellas to compare too.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

LovesDunes, how long does it take to get a 40" bar? And do they come with an assortment of the reflectors or is that something you would have to know what you want in advance? The bottom picture above with the "more fllod" option looks really good.
BTW, thanks for all the work you"ve done in testing these and other lights, been really helpful to me in making the decision on lighting.

Sep 18 2009, 06:54 AM
Typically when you order any light it gets shipped the same day. Right now nothing is shipping untiil the new PCBAs arrive. They should be in by Tuesday or Wednesday.
The light does not come with extra reflectors. They are installed at Rigid. I have not asked about shipping reflectors to customers. I need to find out about that. I will ask them when I get to the show.
I take all the pictures to try and show people what the lights are capable of. Not just the Rigid lights but everything I can get my hands on. Rigid is just what I happen to sell. But I can't come on here and say how bright they are without somthing to compare it against. I'm glad I was able to help you with your decision.

The 6" light is $250. Depending on where BFE is there will be tax and the cost of shipping will depend on how far away BFE is.

I finally got some pictures of the 10" light with flood and spot reflectors. I even got some pictures of the 4" HID to compare it to.
I havn't been able to get to my normal picture place but I moved more into the street so the bush to the right isn't so much in the way.

and now I know why people with the Vision X light say it's really easy to overdrive the LED lights...

This is going in the other direction. Not so many dark colors and it helps the lights to look brighter.

If you already have a headlight you will be fine. Just hook it up to where you current light does.
If you do not already have a headlamp then you will need a rectifier to convert your stators AC power to DC.

Ok I told Lovesdunes I would post some pics when I got my light installed. Along with the light I decided to upgrade my stock YFZ stator to a high output stator/rectifier from Ricky Stator. I will be upgrading the stock head lamps to HIDs shortly, thats the reason for the stator upgrade. I chose not to use the switch supplied from Rigid and used a stock looking switch that is towards the center of the bars. I can't wait for some night rides now!!
I know you guys have seen the lightbars on rails but here are some on my quad. Gotta represent. These things are great.

86 - 89 250R runs only AC for power on the bike and the lights. There is no rectifer. You can run up to 100W of halogen lights on the 250R with the stock stator. No reason to upgrade.
Since the LED light bar consumes less power than a stock halogen light you can go up in power but will need a rectifier to convert to 12V power.
The voltage on a 250R is quite "variable". It produces from 9V - 13V AC depending on how high you're rev'ing it. It's best to put a rectifier and battery both on your bike for the best light all the time.

Oct 16 2009, 01:14 PM
I know it's extra cash but that's why I did the stator so I don't need to worry about my battery being recharged enough. Plus if your going to spend coin on a rectifier its really not all that much more for the stator combo.
I am finally done with the lights. As posted before I did the Rigid 10" bar, now I have upgraded the stock lights and copnverted them to HID. They will serve as a nice flood so I can shoot the light bar out. The lights are really not as blue in the one pic as they appear my camera was confused.
check em out.

I know, I couldn't get the camera to pick up the color correctly. It's actually pretty white with a tint of blue while the light bar is super white. I used the 6000k bulbs.
I will adjust the light bar when I get in the sand.

I looked through all (well maybe most) of the light bar threads and couldn't find any real info on the 4" 4 LED bars like this one
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR...7xFTJATs_x_1FnwIf the link doesn't work it is the Vision X.
Anyway, are there any pics showing what this or maybe even the Rigid 4" (8 light) LEDs put out for light?
I'm looking for supplemental light on my quads but don't want something big.

What quads do you have and have you converted the stock headlights to HID ??
