I saw a poor seat belt install in another topic and thought this would be a good time for vets and noobs to refresh on how to install the belts. Page 36. I have no relation to Team Tech Motorsports, but thought it was the best info I could provide to help save a life or injury. On page 36 item #4 step 4 is the most overlooked thing I have seen in sand cars, yet it is the most vital. Also, if your belts are older than 3 years, send them into the mfg. to get them re-certified. Old belts are dangerous!

IMHO belts are a "throw away" item; buy a good certified 3" race belt but dont waste your money on custom fancy color coordinated "one off" stuff.... i actually recommend to throw the belts away after 1 or max 2 seasons (or recycle them in the shop; they make great engine lifting slings lol) ...the intense desert sunlight is killing the stitching and weakens the webbing

Great post. I thought I was the only one that preached re-certification/replacement.

And dont forget to replace them if you get into something. Mine seemed to look stretched when I lawn darted. You could see a few popped threads... Replaced them- better safe than sorry!!

That is really great info, thanks. I didn't know you could get belts re-certified.

I wonder what they do to recertify them?

When we would send out old belts in, they would come back with new webbing. It would cost about 25% of new belts. Same hardware, just new webbing. The buckle and mounting hardware does not really wear out I guess.
