I just bought an 03 Raptor with a K & N and pipe. The gearing on the bike is stock. I want to be in 3rd gear for the most part through the dunes. Please make suggestions. Let me know what you have done and how it performs.
Also, my girlfriend has a stock bike with a K & N (no pipe) and she has to leave it in 2nd gear for the most part. Any suggestions on how I should set up her bike.
Thanks in advance.

To keep the quad on most of the rides at Glamis you may have to drop a tooth or two. I am not sure that's the way to go.
Keep it stock.
If at all go down one tooth to race up the hills.

I have a 03 Raptor, with pipe, k&n, and some other stuff, suspension wise, I dropped down one tooth in the front, it is about the same as going up 2 in the back, but by going down one in the front, it is a simple chain adjustment, if you go bigger in the rear, you will need to add a couple links. I dont dune hauling ass, but I am in 3rd most of our trips, I can now cruise up hills like Test, Patton at Gordons in 3rd with room to spare instead of winding out in 2nd, its worth the money for a new sprocket, they are pretty cheap, you will shave a few mph off your top speed, but I dont want to go 70+ in sand anyway, I am to old and breakable to do that. hope it helps.

So one tooth less on the front sprocket is the answer. I will try this. Thanks again.

Been playing with gearing since Oct 2000 on the Craptor, read alot, tried everything. Most are very happy with dropping one tooth in the front, and in your case i'm sure thats what you need, most likley on both bikes. Make sure you check that front sproket once in awhile also, they can go bald on ya!
