I was wondering what the most common sprocket set up is for Glamis running a fairly stock motor. Right now I am running 12/39...any

other ideas??

I believe mine are in the stock (not 100% sure) configuration... not sure what those numbers are but, I can have the answer for you tomorrow.
My brother and I have the same bikes and are in a constant race to beat each other. This is one area where I have, as a younger brother, come out on top. He has asked numerous shops what they think and based on their opinions he goes and buys numerous combinations, puts them on and still can't keep up.

12 is the number of teeth for the front sprocket and 39 is the rear. Stock ofr an 87 is 13/39 and by going lower in the front it gives you more bottom end. Also the taller in the rear will also give you more bottom end.
It all depends on how you want to dune. I prefer to have a little more on the bottom end for good roost and a lttile easier to get the front end up when I need to.

If that's what you're lookin for, I'd suggest keeping it how it is. However... you have a TRX and I have an ATC... I'm sure you're front end is much heavier than mine, as well as the whole bike. But... I have a 6" extended swingarm and I still can lift the front end up no problem. As for roost, I've buried a few friends more than once playin the roost game.
Like you, I prefer more bottom end as well. Top end is cool but, there aren't too many times when I'm pinning it in 5th. The majority of my duning is 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Like I said before... my brother has had many combinations and has yet to be happy with anything other than what he copied me on. I used to give him a head start up Comp till he was halfway through the whoops... I'd still go flyin by him like he was on a 200x. Quite hilarious.

I run the stock gearing on my 85 250R wheeler. I have plenty of bottom end, no need to go down one on the front tooth on my bike. I went down one on Carrie's banshee and it helped alot for duning.

As my bike has been modded a bunch (350 CT power valve) I run 14/38. I normally just keep it in 4th in the dunes and never shift. My daughters bike runs 13/41 and it screams up the hill past most of the Boys

I ran 14/38 on my 310 and it came on strong in 4th gear. I found that 13/39 works quite well for something with just a pipe and filter.
i run 12/38 on my ported 250r trike.
what size paddles are you running though? im running 20 11 10's and it pulls like the stock nobbies in the rocks.

I've play with a lot of different gearing on my 250r and 13/39 seems the best for a slightly modified quad.

It depends on what paddles you are running, and the weight of the rider.
When I ran my '88 250r (pipe only) with 8 paddle haulers sprocket set-up was 13/39 and I could pull 4th gear on the hill. When I ran Sand Skate II's, my set up was 12/39 but could only manage 3rd gear on the hill.
Tires make a big difference. Also, this was back when I was 155 lbs.
