I want to add some additional lights to my raptor but I don't want to change the stator. What's the best lights out there for under $300?

get the trailtech hid's. you can run em with your stock lights too. We have a guy that has 2 pairs of the trailtechs and his stock lights all hooked up without replacing the stator. Brighter than a mother!

I have the trailtech regular bulbs, 50W spot and 50W flood, they are super bright, I bought the lights, dash and computer for I think $280, if you arent interested in the computer, go with the HID's, I have been having problems with the regular bulbs breaking, Trail Tech has been great with sending me new parts and no charge, right now I am a test dummy for a new design on the torch lights (regular bulbs) so far so good, but if you do opt for the torch lights, call them first to see which design you are getting, PM me if you want more details. Good luck, Ian

ok i pieced my lights together for a hella good price. i have a lazer star handle bar mount w/ the stems and then my cousin hooked my up with some "empi" brand lights. the lights them selves cost about $50 for me. the bar clamp and stems cost me about $95 to $100 for both. so it was about $150 after taxes and all. i did however want to go up on my stator cuz its my banshee and i wanted alot of light for my bike. the whole set up cost me about $400 out the door by the time i set everything up. i saved a few bucks but i know if i ever bust my lights i have cheap replacements. ill try to get a pic up of the lights.

I have an oval McCulloch HID light that actually uses the same exact bulb & ballast that Hella uses in their 4000 series and it is real bright. Costed me $250 from www.suvlights.com . I mounted them off my lazerstar handlebar clamp. I'll try and get some pics next time I go out.

raptors are hard on aftermarket lights due to the vibration.i've had the same set up as sreamin ian and i eventually gave up on those and upgraded to the hid.they dont take hardly any power and are very bright.the power draw to light output ratio is great.the only bitch i have about my hid light system is that on occasion both lights dont turn on when you hit the switch.they are finicky about their power consistency.that doesnt happen often but more than enough when you spend good money on something.

I was looking at the new HIDs from trail tech and they seem pretty nice. Do they got real hot like the Lazerstars do?

raptorflash,
HID's in general will not get as hot as Halogens, as they use less power and are much more efficent.
My Raptor set up has a suggested list of $253. This includes 2 35 or 50 w lights and the billet clamp. However if you are an ASA member I can get you 10% off that or shop around, sometimes shops will give discounts right off the bat.

All right. Thanks for the input.
Now I need to buy some tie rods. Maybe with more lights I wouldn't have bent one.

Trailtech has the new rubbermounted stems , they come with the new dashplate and risers. I have had no probs with the new setup.. also if you need extra bulbs and you dont want to pay a fortune for them, all they are is track lighting bulbs for your home.. home depot, lowes etc carry these and they are only around 5 bones, just make sure you get the ones with the sealed beams..
