Have you see the speed trap on gecko road? Most of gecko road is 35 MPH. Near the entrance at the 78 on the way out, the speed limit is a 15 MPH sign. Early sunday mornings, the ranger station stop sign is not in place, and the duners leaving just roll on through. The IC sheriffs wait behind the ranger station and radar the duners as they are leaving. The IC sheriffs normally have 4 to 5 officers ticketing for any offence over 15 MPH. The officers have to work their asses of to keep up. The speed limit signs are smaller than the normal one that I'm used to. I guess the county must be hard up for money. I know the sheriffs office does not care for the dunes being open to the off roaders. I seen them stopping bikes by the glamis store just to check registrations. Is this harassment? The sheriff must get his campaign money from the environmentalists. This just pisses me off to no end. I don,t drink and drive. I don,t speed through camp sites. I,m always very careful, and then to get harassed just because they can. Bullshit!!!! Think I will just keep to Dumont. The cop in Dumont are both friendly and helpful.

only the off-road enforcement units (and only very few of them) have radar. so if you get pulled over for speeding by an ic sheriff, he's gonna get you on admission of guilt. so just say i was going 15 and unless his unit has radar, which only a handful do, he cant ticket you, and have it hold up in court unless it was a BLATANT speed violation. but just go the speed limit and you wont have to worry it. speed isn't their #1 concern they have better things to think about, but if they are setting up a specific speed trap, obviously speeding is a REAL danger there. so just be mindful of your actions

pulling you over for speeding is "probable cause" to start a search, like for registration, to make contact with you to see if you're DUI, etc....

easier to stay out of trouble than it is to get out of trouble....

truth be told, people blow through there all the time. so, the POlice would soon have to do something once little timmy had been dragged 50feet by some jerk in a deisel pusher...just for example.
whats it tell us? be safe, dont break the law and they wont break your wallet. cops are told to enforce rules usually cause there has been a problem through that area. thats why they have special task forces. think about it next time.
