I just got some information on the annual south dunes cleanup and they asked me to start spreading the word...
The cleanup is set for March 6, 2004 and it's going to be a BLAST! There will be an after party at Pair-a-Dice that includes a show and shine for buggies and bikes (starting at 12:30 but vehicles must be there by noon for voting), a poker run (with another twist... details to follow) and they're even considering a treasure hunt where some goodies will be hidden amongst the rubbish.
KD Cycle and Pair-a-Dice are putting on the event (as usual) but they're doing it with a pretty neat twist this time. This year the south dunes area will be divided up into different zones and the various organizations will be in charge of their particular zone. DUNERS, for instance, is in charge of Gordon's which means our volunteers will be responsible for the registration booth and having one or two people at the dumpsters taking in bags of trash and handing out raffle tickets. Other organizations will be in charge of other areas, making sure people have bags, tickets, directions, you name it. Whatever Pair-a-Dice and KD Cycle tell us to do, we'll do.
The various organizations are also asked to help find prizes for the event, so if anyone is interested in donating to the south dunes cleanup, contact Kathy (of KD Cycle) at 928-329-1908.
Sponsors must be confirmed by February 20th to be included on the t-shirt.
