Last season we were informed that the spot we camp at usually was being closed to campers by the new owner. We are usually off the 78 on the South/west side at County Line.Im wondering if anybody knows if theyve closed it all or can you still camp there? Thanks in advance.

Good question, I heard that there were some unhappy property owners on the south side. I will be making my first trip down there on Monday and we camp off of county line. I'll check for you, but won't have computer access to get back to you.

Guess I better make a plan B.Anyone have a good spot they recommend?

I do think some spots are open back there but don’t know where. Some friends that camp out by the blue inn said that it was open. We camp out by pole line but off the beaten path.

I was there a couple of weeks ago, when you turn south off of hwy 78, directly across from County Line rd, everything on the west side, or the San Diego county side is being fenced off, if you camped on the east side as you drove in you are okay. The owner has a big telephone pole thing to drive through, and you could tell where the fence is going. What we dont know is if it will close the access back into what is commonly know as Mars. There are signs up stating no offroad activity in the wash that goes back into the mud hills. I guess only time will tell. It sucks, more people are buying up property to enjoy the desert only to shut others out of some of the best trails in the area. I bet we have lost over 100 acres on that side over the last five years. people are buying 5 - 10 - 50 acres at a time and fencing it off.
