My tranny states " Mendeola MDS4" on is.. Am I correct to guess it is a 2D? or?

You sure it doesn't say MD4S, and if so it could be a Econo model "E" or second design a -2D

Yep, MD4S.... Got some things mixed up as I had my head tilted and tried to write it down.

What is the HP rating for the "E" and "2D". And is there anyway I can tell which one I got by looking at it?

This information is usually stamped on the side next to the serial number (at least it is on mine). As for HP rating, Mendeola claims 200 HP for an E transmission, and 375 for the D transmission.
