Well this should be a thread for hardpackers who like the tough trails...

A buddy and I tried to get from Ocotillo Wells to Agua Caliente. I will post the KMZ file if you guys really want to see it, but its plate riding only. So no red/green stickers. wife.gif Anyways we were unsuccessful and came pretty close to spending the night out there. This ride also consisted of a cross country ride of death with cacti stuck on every part of our bodies. The closest we got was about 4 miles as the crow flies away and we could even see agua caliente but couldnt get there. Has anybody else gotten there from oco?

Some other hard/more experienced rides ive been on...

Mikes Sky Ranch
Oco to superstition to Plaster City Gas Station and back
Oco to the bombing range to the secret flowing rivers
Painted Gorge - silt

Basically make this a thread of cool stuff, not the average I went to devils slide, sand dam, and olds hill.

I will also trade secrets over PM for other cool secrets if you dont want the whole world knowing about them. icon_wink.gif (geocaches, landmarks, trails, canyons, etc) I now have some of this on google earth thanks to my buddies trick gps that logged all our stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. I am going to the wells for thanksgiving this year. First time away from the sand for 5 years gonna leave the buggy at home and take the good old xr 400 and rhino. The inlaws are camping at Agua Calliente and I was wondering if we could make it there the bike is plated. not to pumped on riding all the main trails to the usual spots (pole line-comp-shell reef-pumpkin patch) Some cool technical stuff away from the norm would be great. Thanks again

Try the left side and middle two hill climbs at Devil's slide. That will test your manhood. icon_wink.gif

I have done both and disagree. I think I havent explained what exact hillclimb I am talking about at Devil's Slide.

I have done all the hill climbs at devils slide and know what you are talking about. But Shell reef 2-3 years ago, the straight up route up shell reef was much gnarlier than devils slide, especially with the (2) one foot tall steps at the very top.

Fish Creek is on the south side of the 78, at the end of split mountain towards the mine, but its License plat riding only, no green or red sticker.

Me and a friend do that route all the time. Just go through the Squeeze down into Harper Flats and out Split Mountain We usally start at Ocotillo and go to Ocotillo Wells to Borrego across to 78 on the dirt and up Shelter Vallery on the road.
