AM Racing. A fairly new quad shop in Chula Vista. What a bunch of scum bags!
I finally get my Banshee back from them. As I'm loading the bike into my truck, I notice the 6 pack rack is trashed. ALL THE WELDS ARE BROKE OFF. The 6er supports are missing. The guys explanation (RIS guys will love this) is that the welds are weak and it happens a lot. He offered to fix it for $20. I was dumbfounded. I just wanted my bike at this point so I took off.
This weekend, it came to my attention that my brake light is messed up. When the bike is running, the brake light is on. Always. The light itself looked new. Like it was a replacement.
When I got home after a KICK A$$ weekend I call the F-ers up. I tell him about the brake light. He tells me the wiring to the light might be messed up. NO SH!T. Once again he tells me about the weak welds. He once again offers to fix the rack for $20 bucks. After repeatedly asking HOW the rack got broke, he tells me he doesn't want to get into an argument and will fix it.
F him! This was an RIS (not the cheapest) 6 pack rack. I have had it for a year. Used and abused it. No problems. It's in this shop for 6 weeks and every weld is broke and my light is messed up. No explanation other than "weak welds".
I will not be returning to have my rack "fixed". I will let the rage burn everytime I look at it. Do yourselves a favor. DO NOT go to AM RAcing in Chula Vista!

You must be talking about somebody else. I've ridden with biatch88 and I know there's no way in hell he was ripping it up hardcore style.

He keeps it in 1st and 2nd most of the time.

Hey, thanks for the info, I live in Chula Vista and now will make sure never to do bussiness with them.
What did you take it in for that would take 6 weeks to do in the first place?

Sounds like they backed into it hence the new light and effed up beer rack. They should come clean and tell you what happened and make full restitution for their stupidity and not try and BS you...

The thing that took the longest was revalving the shock. It was sent off to "Works". It didn't help that they didn't send it off for 2 weeks after dropping my bike off.
The rack itself isn't bent or scrached. I'm thinking when they started taking apart the swingarm, it dropped down on something. Hopefully their head! Maybe they tried useing it for a step too. That is possible.
They were also supposed to fix an overheating problem. Replaced a bunch of crap. Didn't do a thing. Still boiling over last week.
Wasn't me Sandho. How could you mistake my beautiful bike for another!

I didn't do any racing up the hills this weekend. That's where I would of really noticed. Smooth through the dunes though. Don't recall toping out. I doubt it made a BIG difference

Call the local chamber of commerce and the BBB on them, make sure there is a complaint on file for them, also if you noticed that they are authorized distributors for a particular brand of bike or accesories, call that company too and ask them if they want to be associated with someone who does to their customers what they did to you. That'll fix it.....................

That's why I mentioned RIS. They make kick ass stuff. That's what my rack is/was. AM Racing sells a lot of RIS stuff. But AM says the welds are weak and just fall apart?
Ricky from RIS may want to know these guys are slingin their stuff but don't think too highly of it.

Bansh, are these the guys that sold you the swingarm that you put on right before our summer ride?

Banshees always spit out coolant on the pipes, just route a longer overflow hose so it runs to the ground and not on the pipes.
A-Dare
Jan 26 2004, 08:57 PM
I routed all my overflows together and had them spit out at the bearing carrier on the swingarm. Kept everything alot cleaner.

Sorry to hear of your trials, afterall what good is owning a Banshee if you can't ride it? I'd have to second the ALBA comments, have had great luck with them, including the port job they just did. Holy crap that thing screams now. Anyways when is your next trip, I didn't get a chance to come by on MLK. We're going out this weekend and the following also

I've heard rumors of an early weekend next week! You in?
I only went to this place because I was having them replace a swing-arm I bought there when I was in a pinch. Long story. Never happen again.

Jan 27 2004, 08:51 AM
We're going out thurs. evening both weeks. we'll hook up for a cold one.
Here's a little story about ALBA. My brother-in-law has the same bike as I do and wanted it ported so he takes it to ALBA right before the sand sports show. he also drops off his paddles to get some new sand skates mounted. Long story short they have the show, they move to a bigger building and they have the fires to contend with. It takes a little longer to get the job done than they anticipated which is understandable. He gets the bike back and the wheels he gets back with the new paddles mounted arent the same ones, these are new. So he calls them to find out what happened because he didn't get charged for the new wheels. They tell him that in all the kaos they lost his old wheels & paddles, so they just mounted up a new set & only charged him for the sand skates. They never even mentioned it to him when he picked up the bike, just took care of it to keep a satisfied customer. This is the way things should be handled, but how often do they? I try not to preach and they're not the cheapest but damn they have great service.

Alba is cool. Parts guys are pretty cool and seem to know whats up.
Price is high - but we all agree - at times its worth is.
I saw Banshs rack and noticed the light. It looks like someone was standing on it and broke the rear 2 mounts clean off and the two inside bars off clean. Only think holding the rack on are the two front mounts.
My imagination is that they found the fat guy to stand on it or they used a rachet tie down to compress the shock for some reason and it all came apart.

Sucks if you ask me, hey Chum how's the finger doin, I figured an old fisherman would know how to handle a knife. Course then again I can't chew gum and walk at the same time according to the women of the house.

LMAO -
Nice meeting you. Sorry it was by the trash cans tough.. HA.. at least we are packing it out eh?
Finger is still nasty looking but healing.
The older the fisherman the more cuts and holes they get in their hands is what Ive been told. Its when your hittin the fellets you need to keep the meat from your fingers out of the meat of the fish.

Anyone know what I need to do to fix the tail light?
When the bike is running, the brake light is on. Like "brake" on. Even with headlights turned off.

Sounds like a short somewhere to me bro....or
the bulb in there is the wrong one...or the bulb is spun 180 degrees leaving it touching the wrong contacts...if ya know what i mean
They prob jammed bulb in a$$ backwards
A-Dare
Feb 1 2004, 12:17 PM
I honestly don't think that'd do it. They f'd up your wiring somewhere, or you've got some sort of short in the handlebar switch. Even if they jammed the bulb in backwards, it still shouldn't have power unless the switch is on. Do you still use the factroy front lights? If so, are they on all the time too? On my old banshee, I rewired my system so that my 2 6" piaa's ran only on the high output circuit. Then when I turned on the low circuit, only my tail and whip light would be on. Sounds like something simple, a little probing around with a meter would probably fix your problem right up.

You can also check the spring on the rear brake lever. I stretched one out on my street bike, and my brake light stayed lit until I replaced it.

my banshee didn't have a brake light, just tail light. Mine was straight old school though 87 and j arms baby
