I want to both say "thank you" and nominate Sand Trap, AFamilyof4, Sand Commander, the Oregon crew, and everyone else who took time out of their duning time today to get me, and my broke down car back safely and soundly from China Wall. I grenaded another tranny at the top of the hill, and while still mobile, I tried to get to the flats so I wouldn't tear up someone else's tranny to get me home. Got to the flats, but car was stuck in 2nd, so as I tried to get it into neutral, and about 10' later, added a new vent on the bottom of the tranny case, so it was time to remove the axles, and hook on to the back of Sand Trap's car...problem was, we needed some tools. Since AFO4's camp was near, a couple cars went out to borrow what we needed. Of course, about 5 minutes after the cars left, up comes AFO4's group, and they waited, and helped us finish playing in the grease, and got us on our way. (I didn't get to properly thank the person who lent us the sockets, so Vicky, please pass along my gratitude)
After all of the generous help, we got home safe and sound. While nothing is worse than being on the wrong end of the tow rope, I am sure thankful that we have such an abundance of great and very helpful gd.com members. Thank you all again for your help. Your duning time is precious, and I really appreciate your kindness.

Ouch, sorry to hear that Bob,
What a great bunch of friends to be thankful for.
I think this is the tail end of your trip, and not the first day, so there is another thing to be thankful for.

Bob...
I'm just sorry you broke! When we were flying across the flats and I saw a blur of blue/white and black, I thought....."oh crap....hope everything is OK" As we got closer, I was relieved to see both cars in tact and the whips/flags still flying but was bummed when I caught a whiff of gear oil....I knew it wasn't good.
Our friend August was the one that had the sockets that Bill and JT brought back. He said he was glad he was able to help.
Hope you're fixed up soon.
